That's not all..! Performances By: K O R K E & J U D I T H Korke & Judith - World HugDance Project MEET YOUR PROFESSIONALS: KORKE & JUDITH Korke Korke was born in 1979 in Cadiz, Spain. He has always been athletic training in kick boxing and martial arts growing up. Korke is a very analytical, musical and a creative soul with a great eye for details. A movie called “Dance with me” sparked his interest in Salsa at the age of 19. Two years later he discovered the basic steps of Bachata. With no more information than the basic step (four steps to the side) and the bachata music, he started developing his own dance style. It was a time without social media, so he was forced to make his own moves and turn patterns. Korke’s goal is to make bachata a universal “dance language” meaning that his students will learn how to lead anything, on any girl, anywhere. “I don’t want you to dance like me, I want you to dance better than your teacher. Only if you reach that level, I can grow.” – Korke In 2002, he started teaching his first bachata class. In 2004, he taught his first class in a festival called “Pura Salsa Bahia Sur”. Korke became the director of a salsa show team called “Dancing Dragons” in 2006, where his current dance partner Judith also danced. Judith Judith began dancing at a very young age. She started competing professionally in rhytmical gymnastics at age 7. She simultaneously trained in ballet. Her parents where also avid dancers and took her out dancing salsa when she was 16. Judith’s goal is to teach girls to follow any leader while still keeping their individual style in the process. When Korke met Judith… Judith was asked to join the show team Korke managed and he quickly noticed her exceptional talents as a complete dancer. She was chosen as his new partner in Bachata. Many would ask him why he chose her as she didn’t know bachata at the time. Korke saw the beautiful lines and shapes of her dancing. He knew she would learn quickly and predicted she would become the best within this style within a short period. Korke turned out to be correct in his statement as she is known as one of the most talented bachateras in the world today with her own unique, smooth style. In 2009, Korke and Judith had their first choreography together in the first exclusive bachata festival in Spain. Nowadays, Korke is dubbed as the “Maestro of Maestros” translated as “The Master of Masters” as he is known for being the creator of the style called “Bachata Sensual” (aka. Bachata Moderna). He currently travels the Bachata-circuit every weekend of the year to teach in festivals around the world. He is well respected in the the bachata world. Korke and Judith have been teaching worldwide from Argentina to Kazhakstan. In 2010, Korke started a competition called Bachatastars that has now expanded to a European competition with more countries joining each year. This competition has given many new bachateros a name in the bachata world. Among them Korke’s students that have become professionals like Chaves and Silvia and Kike and Fania. They teach locally and abroad helping the dance style grow internationally. People around the globe can now have the pleasure of dancing this organic dance. Korke and Judith have made sure that the dance is technical, natural and logical when it comes to leading and following. Judith helped develop Bachata Sensual into the very same elegance, grace and beauty that she herself possesses as a dancer rooted in her long training in the art of human movement and the estethics of ballet. She helped turn the dance into “eye candy”, something very pleasing to the eye. SEE.YOU.THERE!
