DC Blues+Fusion Global House Party & Racial Justice Fundraiser

The Global House Party is a single night for our far-reaching blues and fusion dance communities to come together and raise awareness, support, and money for racial justice — throwing an epic dance party in the process. This is part of a decentralized event over thirty seperate parties coordinated around a singular cause. The Keep is excited to be hosting the Washington, DC area edition! There will be online live streams of of Blues and Fusion music — ​playing at parties around the world — DJ'd from cities across the globe. We will have two rooms — one with blues music on the 3rd floor, and one with fusion music on the ground floor. DC's own Clyde Wright will be one of the blues DJs! More on them below. A beginner blues dancing lesson will be offered in the blues room from 8-9pm, with Ben Schneider. In its history, ONE DC has distinguished itself as one of a few organizations in Washington, DC that moves beyond service provision to build sustainable community capacity and leadership so that low-income people of color can speak for themselves. Their amazing staff will be joining us at the party to connect you to their work. Empower DC: The mission of Empower DC is to enhance, improve and promote the self-advocacy of low and moderate income DC residents in order to bring about sustained improvements in their quality of life. They accomplish their mission through grassroots organizing and trainings, leadership development, and community education. Empower DC is a citywide, multi-issue, membership-based community organizing project. They currently have campaigns around fairness in public housing redevelopment, fighting gentrification and displacement, environmental justice in SW DC, and re-establishing a civic association in Ivy City and turning a historic school into a workforce and community center.
