DDD Dance Workshops

Join us for our great DDD workshops! This is the chance that you have all been waiting for! "Saturday, October 19th " Right before our big event "one night in Rio" we provided a BRAZILIAN SAMBA workshop in addition to the classes you have requested. Learn something new from local and out of town dancers and Champions! Directly from New York City, Ximena Salgado, an international Peruvian performing and teaching artists will be in town for our ONE NIGHT IN RIO with her Rumbamena Dance Company. XIMENA SALGADO is an international multifaceted artist originally from Peru. As a dancer she has performed in arenas such as the Madison Square Garden and MET Life Stadium. She has been member of Balmir Latin Dance Company performing, teaching and competing in diverse Latin Dance Festivals. In Peru she earned the title of National Salsa Champion as a Soloist in 2015. Her Dance Awards in the US includes 1st place in Salsa Pro Heats and 2nd place as a Soloist at Salsa Con Fuego , Pittsburgh 2017, 2nd place in Bachata Rising Stars and 3rd place in Samba Soloist at the World Salsa Summit 2017. Darleen Dakos our beloved local instructor: Darlene is a dancer and dance teacher who travels stateside and Internationally to pursue this love of the Angolan dances of Kizomba, Afrohouse and Kuduro. Her dance training has been with world reknowned artists in Paris, Madrid, Portugal, Montreal, and Toronto. Latin dances and Argentine Tango round out her repertoire. Her joy is bringing lovers of music and dance from different genres togehter just for the sake of art and in this Workshop she will be teaching you the miz of Kizomba/Semba Kizomba/Semba Kizomba is the dance from Angola rapidly growing stateside characterized by it's slow sensual gliding movement. It is danced with different nuances regionally on a continuum from rawness to refined. Heavily influenced by Semba that has very similiar steps. Though Semba is danced to an upbeat tempo, more open, with catches and drags. Yes, Semba is on the way. Tarraxinha is the body isolations within Kizomba that could be a class in and of itself.
