It is considered one of the most profound and beautiful celebrations of life, death, and remembrance. It’s not about mourning loss, but about honoring continuity — the way love transcends time, form, and even the veil between worlds. Before colonization, many Indigenous cultures viewed death as a natural cycle, not an end but a transformation. Offerings to ancestors were made to maintain harmony between the worlds of the living and the dead. It is believed that from October 31st to Nov 2nd are the days when the ancestors return, not as ghosts to fear, but as beloved guests to celebrate. In their honor we prepare an Ofrenda (offerings) to receive them and we invite you to be an active part of the Ofrenda. This consists of: 📸 Photographs: To call forth the spirit of the beloved. 🌼 Marigolds (Cempasúchil): The flower of the dead. Its bright orange represents the sun and guides souls back home with its scent. 🕯️Candles: Light the way for spirits — each flame a soul remembered. 📿 Favorite objects: Offerings of what the deceased loved most, to nourish their spirit. We invite you to be an active part of this celebration and ancestral ritual by arriving early and weave your energy into the collective altar by bringing your ofrenda: yellow/orange flowers, candles and a photo of your loved ones that have passed or their names written on a decorated piece of paper so we can honor them in the space. THE JOURNEY: We will open the space with a Cacao Ceremony to drop into our collective heart and open to the Wisdom Transmission around this important date. Cacao is a sacred plant medicine has been used for centuries to connect to spirit, to love, and to one another. As the cacao guides us into a state of deep presence, Dj Madelion will open the dance floor space, activating our intentions into movement. Dj Swahé will take us on a transformative, ecstatic dance, letting the music carry our prayers, memories, and offerings for those we honor. Swahé creates an immersive experience that transcends the ordinary, inviting dancers to enter a state of bliss and transformation. His sets are more than just music—they are a journey into the heart of ecstatic awakening. After dance we will ground the energy through a delicious sound healing lead by Kevin, which will help us to integrate the journey. Together, we will co-create a space where the veil between worlds thins, allowing us to connect with the wisdom and energy of our ancestors and dance in honor of their life and memory. Wear your colors of remembrance and bring a small offering (a photo, flower, or item) to place on the communal altar. This is a time for celebration, reflection, and connection — to the earth, to each other, and to the spirits who walk with us.
