DJ Nomad at Rhythm City Strut

This week come out dance to the swinging tunes of DJ Nomad (Lawrence Chan)! Happy birthday to dancer Willa Mae Ricker, born April 7, 1910! Known for her physical strength, fashion sense and business acumen, she was the first of Whitey's Lindy Hoppers to stand up to owner Herbert "Whitey" White and demand fair pay for the dancer's work. In August 1943 she was famously featured in a photo essay in Life magazine with partner Leon James.
