DJ TRAINING AT SAWA SAWA KIZOMBA FESTIVAL! From its inception, Sawa Sawa has been all about the best music, a good environment to enjoy the music in, and exceptional people to enjoy the music with. Related to the overarching dream above, we intend to train upcoming, established, and new generation of DJs for the local, national, and international entertainment scenes. We have designed a training to give you expert guidance and hands-on instruction to help you achieve your goals. What to Expect: An 8-hour theory and project-based practical sessions delivered in three parts: • Assessment PRE-Sawa Sawa – 60 mins. • Instruction DURING Sawa Sawa - 6hrs. • Follow up POST-Sawa Sawa – 60 mins. The training is tentatively broken down into 2-hour blocks, running Friday through Sunday. The training covers the following skills and projects: • Know the Equipment (DJ Software & Hardware, PA Sound Systems basics). • Know the Music - (Understanding basic music theory for DJs, Music structure, Rhythm, Counting & Timing). • DJ Techniques - mixing/transitions types, beatmatching, planning/preparing sets, switching between genres and BPMs, reading the floor, and song/genre selection while Djing? • Music organization & preparation - music collection and preparation, set preparation (discover, shortlist, organize, and prepare). • A better understanding of the DJ’s place in the community. Project-based assignments. Chance to play for a select limited group at a closed session during Sawa Sawa. To be eligible for the training program, you must: Bring your laptop, DJ equipment, headphones, and cables. Commit to attending all training sessions. Commit to respecting attendees and instructor(s) COST: DJ Training Fee $500 The fees cover the cost of the training and a complimentary full festival pass, granting access to dance workshops, Day socials & night parties. A $200 deposit is required to secure your spot in the training program and the balance is to be paid in a maximum of 2 installments before Sawa Sawa.
