About this Event
Saturday night at Dragon Swing Festival is reserved for the famous underground party. This year we will also take you 135 meters (401 feet) underground to “Warsaw Chamber” in the Wieliczka Salt Mine.
Get ready for Shining Stars - Advandced J’n’J Finals and Solo Finals!
Take at least 2 pairs of shoes (dancefloor might be slippery) and dance to the two fabulous bands: Shirt Tail Stompers and Lazy Swingers Band!
Enjoy delicious food and beverages in the underground restaurant!
Since the Wieliczka Salt Mine is over 10 kilometers away from Cracow Old Town, we provide special Dragon Swing buses to help you to get there and take you back to Kraków. You will find your BUS TICKET to Wieliczka in your welcome pack. Please, check and respect your departure time. Be on time!
VERY IMPORTANT!
During the party there will be a technical break of the lift and the main shaft will not work during that time (from 11 p.m till 1:15 a.m). In this time you will not be able to enter or leave the Salt Mine except the emergency or special circumstances. Don’t worry, for your entertainment we will have the finals of the competitions as well as the awarding ceremony of the Golden and Green Dragons during that time.
Smoking: In the Warsaw Chamber there is a specially designated smoking area. Outside this area smoking is strictly forbidden.
Cell Phones: Although the party takes place 135 m underground it is possible for the most of the mobile phones to work there.
We would like to let you know and also warn you that in the Salt Mine there’s a unique microclimate, which has a particular effect on partygoers. Here a combination of air pressure and air content causes the effects of alcohol to be muted... until he or she arrives at the surface.
The Salt Mine is a place unique on a world scale:
"The historic Salt Mine in Wieliczka is the only mining site in the world functioning continuously since the Middle Ages. Its original excavations (longitudinals, traverses, chambers, lakes, as well as minor and major shafts) are located on nine levels and extend for the total of about 300 kilometres: reaching the depth of 327 metres they illustrate all the stages of mining technology development over time."
The quotation comes from the justification for entering the Wieliczka Salt Mine on UNESCO's First World List of Cultural and Natural Heritage, on September 8, 1978 together with 11 other sites from around the world. Indeed, the Wieliczka Mine reflects the progress of mining technology, the development of work organisation and management, and the introducing of industry legislation since the Middle Ages.
