About this Event
In this special-topic workshop we will start by breaking down connection, frame, and turns, all with the objective of becoming better at all turns. As we start to put it back together, we hope to unlock a new level of partnering to create a wide range of more advanced textures for our dance and transitions. These are techniques/concepts we have worked on for over a decade, and are an integral part of our partnership and style.
The workshop will be taught in four sections:
Section 1 - "the basics of turns" - is a basics section designed entirely around the intricacies of frame, technique and connection for turns.
Section 2 - “learn the turn” - will use the techniques and concepts from section 1 to rapidly learn and utilize several turns and variations
Sections 3 & 4 - "use a turn as a transition,” - will be all about using the turns to transition directly into other moves, shapes or patterns that can occur cohesively with the turn. There'll be no basics in between, it's straight from one into the next.
Though the content will be taught within the framework of Lindy Hop as the base dance, you'll find the techniques can be used in most any social partner dance.

=============
Why this topic? We asked around to see what people thought we should focus on for this workshop. The response was pretty clear, focus on what we are known for and show us how you create your dynamic and fast style. In our style, we focus a ton of time on our turns and transitions. This was always one of our strongest focuses, ever since the first week we started working together. We figured, why not bring others into the studio to work stuff out the same way we always have.
