Earthshake 2024 Thank you for two incredible years of ecstatic dance. The very first Earthshake was held in August 2021, with about 20 brave, rusty, dancers, gathering again after a two-year pause.... Since then, Earthshake has grown into a vibrant community with hundreds of dancers that grace our dance floor over 26+ monthly dances!!!! Thank you for trusting us! Thank you for SHOWING UP! Thank you for COMMITTING to dance, self-expression and community. Thank you for adding your unique spark to what is proudly the largest monthly ecstatic dance in New England!!! Every month tends to feel like "our best" month. It keeps getting better. The magic keeps growing. The community keeps expanding. The joy, comfort, freedom and mutual-support continues to deepen. Thank you. If you have been to this space, or others like it, then you know that few other spaces in the world compare to the wonder of stepping into a container FULL of vibrant, passionate humans, fully relaxed, fully celebrating, with zero expectations, hiding nothing, supporting and encouraging one another to be their full selves. We love you in all your forms and all your feelings. Bring it. We want it. We all feed off of one another's authenticity. It is a temple of self expressions and connection: A living prayer for the better world we are ready to call home. • Winter Series :: UPLIFTING NEW DJ'S • This winter, 2024, entering our 3rd full year, Earthshake will be highlight ONE UPCOMING DJ each month. We look forward to lifting up our community members, and preparing a new generation of passionate, dependable ecstatic dance DJ's to delight the Earthshake container with a fresh new range of music and style! This Month, Jan 2024, we will be highflying a long-term dancer, committed, community member, and frequent earthshake teammate: LANGSTON!!!!! - DJ tintedDreams - Langston will be treating us to a 45 min CLOSING SET, following Andrew and Marek. Please STICK AROUND to the end of the night for tintedDreams first Earthshake set! - Please sick around too, if it is not your tendency, because the END OF THE NIGHT is one of the most beautiful phases of our first-friday gatherings. - Often times, only about 30% of the group makes it to the end, but it is one of the coziest, sweetest, most loving, heartbreaking, beautiful parts of the evening. In Langston's own words: "The closing sequence is my most favorite part of the dance. When I think of my favorite moments of Earthshake, they always tend to be at the end of the night. There is a special magic, after having danced the night away, when the music starts to get slower and softer. It's a sweet taste. The dancing slows down and finally ends. Everyone is cuddling or laying on the floor together. It really provides good closure. I always feels satisfied." As someone who always stays to the very end, and lows how magic those final moments are, we know the we can trust Langston to take us into cozy-land, and look forward to his first set at Earthshake! Marek was a regular, dependable pollinate DJ along-side DJ Brando (HipSockit) - who has going us for several rocking earth shakes already! We are thrilled to welcome Marek BACK to his beloved dance space to throw down another epic set for our evolving, growing community of new and old dancers :) __________________ DJ Passionflower, Andrew Mangold, will be opening with another juicy, tasteful, well-crafted ecstatic set, full of surprises and sexy, blood-stirring, heart-pumping beats that you have come to expect... :) __________________ WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW : If this is your FIRST ecstatic dance, WELCOME! We're thrilled you found our event page. Get ready to embark on a thrilling, life-changing adventure. Before we begin, PLEASE join us for the opening circle. Arrive at 8pm and spend 5 easy minutes with us reviewing ecstatic dance, consent, deep listening, and basic nuts and bolts that help keep the dance, dancers and dance space as safe and nourishing as possible :) Everyone should bring extra waters, and any treats or snacks to share at our monthly potluck table. No shoes in the space except for specialty dance-only footwear. Be prepared to practice consent. Ask yourself first, and then any other person, and receive a clear "yes", before entering closely into their physical sphere on or off the dance floor. Ironically, practicing healthy boundaries, and being prepared to keep distance, is actually what allows this space to be so close, warm and connective :) Please keep talking off the dance floor in the lobby only. This really helps! You are welcomed as you are. There is no right or wrong way to practice ecstatic dance As long as you are respecting yourself, respecting others, and taking pause to tune INWARD throughout the night, you are doing it correct :) You can be a giant troll, a scared little goblin, a doe, deer, a bird, a tree, a stromcloud, a rumbling mountain, a beam of sun or the whisper of a shadow. Move big, move slow, move fast, move small, move in every which way or don't move at all. Let your body remind you what it needs, let your heart's quiet voice take the lead. This is a temple of transformation in out true selves, a playground for entrapped characters to step free, a meeting ground of souls, to find care and connection, in just the right way, they didn't know anyone else knew they needed. The dance is a sacred site for prayer, release, to speak away whats dead and to call in whats ready to come to life. Live your prayers. Be whole again, and in so doing, help our planet to be whole again. Remember how good humanity can be <3 Love it. One thing is for sure. EVERY FIRST FRIDAY - you can COUNT on a home among dancers at Studio 444, Northampton MA, 25 Main Street 8pm - midnight. If nothing else, Earthshake exists to guarantee that we have, for at least one night per month, a safe warm loving inclusive place to be surrounded by resonant souls, nourishing by music and movement.
