Whether you're an inspired new dancer, or a long-term ecstatic veteran, Earthshake is a welcoming, vibrant, monthly dance floor to come move your body, laugh, sweat, shout and melt into a community full of other passionate, devoted movers and shakers. Earthshake ensures that every FIRST FRIDAY of the month, dancers throughout the Northeast have a dependable space to connect with a growing web of radiant community members, and practice free-form movement/embodiment on a big, full, professional dance floor. We ensure that Earthshake delivers a range of cathartic, high-quality music every single month to help shake out stress, tension, pain or anxiety, drop into our hearts, and connect more deeply with oneself and others. If you're NEW to ecstatic dance please plan to attend our opening circle at 8:00pm for a rundown of ecstatic dance, listening and consent practices to better ensure a safe, rewarding experience. We're so glad that you want to join us! ... FOOD / SNACKS: Please bring any extra, surplus food, snacks, fruit, vegetables, potions, flowers, baked goods, or other treats that you have in abundance. We do not feature for-profit food at Earthshake. Instead, we emphasize sharing individual surplus at a big, community 'abundance table'. It's fun to offer ones bounty back to the community! ... Cost: To keep the dance running successfully every month there is a $20 entrance fee to cover costs of the space, artists, equipment, and hours organizing the event. Live drumming: This month, we'll be disrupting our usual format by opening the evening with live drumming, rather than drumming halfway through. Come early for a gentler live drumming / singing session to start the night off. DJs: Passionflower and Flavya Andrew (Passionflower) is Earthshake's "home" DJ, laying down carefully curated mixes to rock the dance floor every single month. Passionflower sets deliver tasteful, fiery phases of catharsis, mixed with clever, fluid, unexpected music that encourages dancers to find new, artistic ways to move and connect. FLAVYA continues our bridge-building with the Brooklyn ecstatic dance scene, coming all the way up from BK on the heels of OMAR who joined us from BK in July. Introducing FlavYa, the vibrant conscious-music DJ and producer hailing from the crossroads of Brazilian-American heritage and Italian roots. Fluent in English and Portuguese, she effortlessly bridges the alternative and wellness music scenes of New York City (USA), São Paulo (BR), & Florianópolis (BR), forging connections that resonate with soulful seekers. With a decade of experience under her belt, Flavya has been orchestrating unforgettable moments on dancefloors, festivals, weddings, and private events.
