Earthshake Ecstatic Dance :: DJ Brando & Passionflower :: December 6th :: 2024 Finale

Join us for the Final First Friday Western Mass Ecstatic Dance in 2024! We are celebrating an INCREDIBLE year of Ecstatic Dance with an explosive CLASSIC night of dance, featuring Pollinate's legendary DJ BRANDO, and Earthshake's returning champion PASSIONFLOWER. We started the year with two classic themed months that shook the dance floor: Jan 5th - DJ Luminus & Passionflower Feb 2nd - Brando & Passionflower March 1st featured Brando and Xuxa Bluet As the ground melted in Spring, we brought in Joro Boro and Being - Sound alongside Passionflower. And once we hit true Spring, May 3rd, just like December, was our heavy-duo: Brando & Passionflower, for another climactic night. June was our first and only "Second" Friday dance, following the yearly gathering of the tribes at Dance Beyond. June 14th brought back Luminus alongside Passionflower shortly after an epic pirate-themed set at DB. July was a huge stride, with an improved DJ stage, and the first ever, four-hour Passionflower set, that began with a story-book introduction and closed with a storybook finale. August was ICYHOT! A bold new theme inspired by just. how. hot. the dancfloor was in July. We brought in a huge ice bath, bought a snow cone machine, and enjoyed "the best party in Northampton", with Passionflower and Father Otter who absolutely crushed the music. Icyhot far exceeded our expectations, bridging the vibe of party spa, and dancefloor all into one. We will DEFINITELY bring back the ice bath and icy hot theme in 2025 Sept was a full house, house-themed night, featuring Xuxa Bluet and Passionflower. In lieu of a "Halloween" theme, October was was "Sexy Creature Night" or wild animal night... or furry creature night... Oct was an ANIMAL and costume theme night that turned the dance floor into an ecological spectacle, with live HD animal footage on the walls, and none other than David Attenborough himself narrating the wild animals dancing at Earthshake. The night opened with an interactive journey through the evolution of life on earth, all the way to the invention of fire, and even the invention of modern tools... tools that have grown so advanced, human creatures cannot live without them - so advanced that humans have begun to lose touch with the wild world around them, and the web of animal life that is our family... but THAT is why we gather, to reclaim our wild animal spirit... and oh, it was a wild night, with Passionflower and Father Otter at the helm <3 We had so many successful themes in a row... but rather than rest in our success... November took another brave stride into the possibilities of what ecstatic dance can be: Passionflower envisioned: "Nervous System Night" and rallied the team to reshape the dance floor once again, not into a wild jungle or an icy landscape, but this time... as calm. as soft. as nourishing as possible... in a world worn by stress and division, could we harness the love and care and devotion of this community to create an absolutely nourishing, connective, rejuvenating, space to nourishing mind, body and soul? The answer: Yes. So yes. Yes and yes and yes. Nervous System Night was one of the best ecstatic dances of the year, bringing the best of the cuddly closing aspects of an ecstatic dance floor, with the wild, cathartic release that earthshake is known for. The music was slower, calmer, woven with classic string, vocals and prayers songs, and yet, the dancers still found their wild sprint even to the calmest most loving tunes. We had a full house of beautiful caring community members creating a living example of the world we believe in. Thank you. DECEMBER will be our 12th and final Earthshake of the Year. Reach out to Brianna. ____ 🍊 Bring: a water bottle + something to add to our 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒂𝒃𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒕𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆. Each month we share nourishing snacks through the night: fruit, treats, herbal goodies, and any tasty goods you have in abundance to share. Consider bringing clothing, books, or other items to pass on to community as well. We provide hot cacao 🙂 WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW : • No shoes in the space except for specialty dance-only footwear. • Be prepared to practice consent. Ask yourself first, and then any other person before engaging closely with others. Receive a clear 'yes' before entering into their physical sphere on or off the dance floor. This can be done with body language/gestures or an ask. Practicing healthy boundaries allows for more openness and deeper experiences. Understand that everybody dancing is having a unique experience and may not wish to engage with others. • Keep phones off the dance floor. • Please keep talking off the dance floor - unless it regards to safety, consent, and boundary. This really helps us go deep! Feel free to hang and chat in the lounge area. • There will be a professional photographer documenting (with sensitivity) our magic throughout the evening.
