Back at it for another ecstatic night of free-form movement! with special guests Joro Boro + b e i n g - s o u n d and our home DJ, Passionflower ⚡️ We will begin with a warm up of live music/electronic fusion to move with — invigorating our bodies, and inviting us into deeper connection of Self and Soul. It’s expansive, blissful, joyous, deep, emotive, and connecting. It can be a deeply personal experience as well as a journey rich in community connection. There is an aliveness in this space that activates your fullness. Come, be free in yourself! 🍇 ABUNDANCE TABLE : This is a space for our people to bring goodies to share with everyone! Snacks and nourishment for the night is encouraged and appreciated. Anything like books, herbal medicines, clothing you want to pass on is also welcome. Earthshake provides cacao as a heart-enlivening elixir. 🗝️ GUIDELINES : In order to feel the most free to have the richest experience possible, we all need to agree on respect + attunement to others. We ask that there is a clear consent for touch + dancing with others – either through body language, eye contact, or a simple ask. You may motion your arms open to invite someone else into your dance space, rather than enter in someone’s dance space. ♦️ We keep big conversations, phones, + shoes ( unless specific dance shoes ) off the dance floor. The lounge area is for hangs + conversation. The organizers take short clips of videos + some photos throughout the night but try to keep that minimum to allow people to stay in their experience. If you do not want any footage of you to be seen or want to approve it prior, please contact Andrew or Brianna.  If there are any concerns regarding boundaries + safety, please do not hesitate to bring it to our attention. — ✨ ABOUT THE ARTISTS : b e i n g - s o u n d is a collaborative project between Joro Boro (sound artist, music producer, DJ, sound designer) and Keena Maya (sound artist, instrumentalist, DJ, architectural designer). Inspired by bass music, ambient, techno, trap, dub, and traditional world musics. b e i n g - s o u n d is rooted in the origins of ritual experience, weaving a variety of sound sources (live, recorded, acoustic, electronic) and exploring the depths of bass sound as a full feeling. The minimal aesthetic brings awareness to the experience of sound as being: being as sound and silence, stillness and movement. Music ceases to be music and becomes the experience of sound. Bass drum oscillations become brainwaves. Performance becomes ritual. Dance becomes trance. Body becomes earth. Meditation to ecstasy and back. - Joro-Boro was born and raised in Bulgaria. After moving to New York City, he got offered a DJ residency at the Bulgarian Bar (Mehanata) alongside Eugene Hütz (Gogol Bordello), where he pioneered the Balkan music and Balkan Beat scenes in the United States. He then moved on to become part of the Brooklyn Underground and an early promoter and producer of Global Bass. He released on a number of international labels. Lately, his interests have shifted to the conscious dance movement and he regularly plays at events like Ecstatic Dance. Joro-Boro plays Earth Bass - an exploration of various musical traditions and the slow, sensual, and spacious side of bass music. He has toured with Anna Morgan, Balkan Beat Box, and Filastine and has performed with artists ranging from Omar Souleyman to Questlove. Joro-Boro is half of the ritual bass project b e i n g - s o u n d with his partner Keena Maya. He is also a part of Collective BAE. — Andrew (Passionflower) is Earthshake's "home" DJ, laying down carefully curated mixes every single month. Passionflower sets always deliver tasteful, rocking, fiery phases of catharsis to shake out your woes - mixed with clever, fluid, unexpected tracks that encourages dancers to find new, artistic ways to move and connect. Look forward to well-timed throwbacks, nostalgic treasures, unheard artists, and tearfully beautiful integration tracks. - Passionflower has an equal reverence for gnarly, high energy music, as slow, soulful, heavily music - and everything in between. Passionflower tracks are painstakingly scoured/filtered to deliver the most emotionally rich experience possible for dancers.
