About this Event

You're invited to Western Ma's wildest monthly dance, every First Friday in Northampton. There was a time—not long ago—when dance was a sign of a strong, healthy culture. Dance strengthened our communities. Dance amplified people's courage, purpose and spirit. Before the silence of shame and the constriction of control, we danced in circles under moonlight, we howled as one family, losing ourselves in rhythm, finding each other in movement. Reclaim your mind. Reclaim your body. Reclaim your spirirt. Reclaim your dance. Join us for a night of ecstatic dance—a space to surrender judgment, abandon performance, and lay rest to control. A space where the body leads and the spirit follows. Always 100% sober. “To extract pleasure from lives of grinding hardship and oppression is a considerable accomplishment; to achieve ecstasy is a kind of triumph.” —Barbara Ehrenreich, Dancing in the Streets This isn’t just a dance party. It’s an act of reducing harm, de-conditioning from a toxic world, reviving humanity, and liberating the mind, the heart and our relationships. In a culture that enforces fear and suppresses spontaneity, moving freely, courageously together becomes a heroic act. We gather to remember what it means to feel alive, so that we may go forth and enact change, better immune to the forces control, more rooted into our morals, our values and the heartbeat of our living planet. Bring your bare feet, your heavy heart, your wild desire, your quiet longing. There are no steps to learn. There’s no one way to show up—just come as you are, respect yourself, respect others, and move. Lose your armor. Find your rhythm. Celebrate the joy they tried to take from us. “The urge to dance, to mock the powerful, to embrace perfect strangers is not easy to suppress.” This is your invitation to reclaim the ecstatic. To move beyond words. To make joy a powerful force for humanity again. Come dance with us. Your body already knows the way.
