Bring your primal, furry, cuddly, playful, inner creature, October 4th to Earthshake Ecstatic Dance. Every month at Earthshake, the dance floor is a jungle of sexy, sweaty passionate dancing creatures... THIS MONTH we're going even deeper into our inner animal... In honor of October (halloween month) - we're kicking the month off with an exciting costume-themed event. Honor a favorite wild creature by dancing them on the dance floor. Wear a cute fuzzy onesie, or your sexiest creature costume. Whatever makes you feel even more wild. This is going to be a delicious night to embody the wild that is within us, and the different wild life-forms that still live among and around us. —— ECSTATIC DANCE is a SUBSTANCE-FREE EVENT No booze and no shoes :) Thank you. There is no 'right' or 'wrong' way to participate at ecstatic dance, as long as you are respecting yourself, and respecting others around you... One could say that ecstatic dance is more of a therapy than a dance. Yes, we're here to HAVE FUN! But on a deeper level, E-dance is place to practice deeper, more authentic ways of relating with one self, and with others. It is a place to find genuine, real-life connection in an increasingly disconnected world... On the dance floor, guests often move stuck energy and stuck stories through their body, to learning, release, discover, grow, and practice more authentic ways of moving and being. It's pretty bland to put into words, but once you experience the transformative effective of wild, sober, movement in community... you'll know exactly what we're talking about :) After participating in ecstatic dance for several months: one may experience symptoms such as: dramatically increased confidence, freedom of expression, no longer giving a fk about what anyone else thinks of you, a clear voice, a clear heart, connection between body and mind, spontaneous laughter, renewed inspiration, an inclination toward art, seeing the best in others, seeing strangers as family, shattered judgments of self / other, and a yearning to continue growing into the brightest, truest version of yourself possible, and a sweet eagerness to support others to do the same. —— Please bring extra treats, crops, and garden harvest to out community potluck-style "Abundance table" —— Bring extra water, and percussion instruments if you wish. ( The drums in the back corner of the space are not ours to use ) —— Ecstatic dance is one of the cuddliest most connective places you'll find, thanks to the layer of safety we carefully cultivate by practicing consent. Always ask yourself, and then ask others. Never enter into anyone else's physical sphere without clear consent -- whether it be verbal or through body language. With this boundary, we can all be closer.
