The Omni Movement is excited to welcome NYC-based Zouk & Lambada Queen, Ebonie Lee, to Oakland! Ebonie is a co-founder of Zoukphoria, a Brooklyn-based Zouk school. She has completed teacher training and professional development courses by Jaime Aroxa & Kiri Chapman, Kim Rottier, Alex & Mathilde, and Brenda & Anderson. In addition to Zouk, Ebonie has performed & trained extensively in various dance modalities: Japanese Classical, African, Latin, contemporary Indian and Modern dance, Salsa, Mambo, and Afro-Latin Dance. Furthermore, she is always interested in the dances of the African Diaspora and conscious movement techniques, incorporating a variety of dance styles into her movement. She believes in the power of dance to connect and communicate, and the nourishment that creativity brings to life. ⏰ SCHEDULE ⏰ 📌 Saturday Workshops 12-3pm 📌 Zoukland Class & Social 9pm - 3am 📌 Sunday Workshops 12-3pm 📌 Zouk & Fusion on Deck Outdoor Social 3pm - 8pm 💃 WORKSHOP DESCRIPTIONS 🕺 Saturday 1 - History of Brazilian Zouk & Lambada: We will explore the history of Brazilian Zouk with a focus on its various dance and musical influences from the African Diaspora. In doing so we will honor the traditions that helped to create this dance as well as find inspiration for its continued evolution. From there we will incorporate this history into the body with grounding Zouk movements. 2 - Wifi Technique Understanding the dynamic of wifi incorporating airplane turns / aviao techniques. Sunday 1 - Expression and Presence: For leads and follows. We will practice exercises to increase one's awareness of self and their partner expanding our self expression and communication. 2 - Brazilian Zouk into Lambada: Moving from Rio-style / Tradicional to Lambada , including tips and tricks for keeping time, facing and musicality. 💸 REGISTRATION 💸 Full passes include all workshops and socials, purchased through Danceplace.
