Our fifth and last Sunday dance in Bristol until the Autumn... *Summer Solstice Special with Cacao Ceremony* What better way to end our first series of events with a Solstice cacao ceremony and Ecstatic Dance with Pixi Pete. He's a dear friend of ours and an integral part of the EDB team with his warm welcomes, dance floor drumming and just straight-up good vibes. ECSTATIC DANCE & CACAO CEREMONY w/ PIXI PETE We will use heart expanding, ceremonial grade cacao to activate and support our Ecstatic Dance journey and honour the Summer Solstice. With only a few years in the Ecstatic Dance scene, DJ Pixi Pete has made quite an impression, playing at Wilderness, Mind Body Spirit (MBS), Natural High Healing, Colourfest and Rumble, among others. He's known as the 'MBS party starter' and the Nine Lives 'yoga rave DJ of choice'. Also known for his infectious smile and his festival fun vibes, he always lights up the faces on every dance floor, expertly weaving through a range of genres and heartfelt melodies. Pete also adds live percussion from his djembe, bongos and drum synth during his sets to add extra layers and energy to his sets. Pete holds regular conscious dance classes in Glastonbury (Dance Medicine and Dance Church) and is playing at the following festivals this year: Mind Body Spirit, Rumble, MenFest, All About Love and he's co-facilitating a Dance Medicine retreat. mixcloud.com/pixipete SOUND BATH w/ BELÉN PRADO To land back down to earth and guide our journey to a gentle close we will finish with a sound bath of Native American flute and shamanic drumming with Belen Prado. Belén offers flute workshops and sound therapy sessions, especially sound journeys. She is always learning and finding ways to offer her gifts to the world, for healing and reconnecting with our true essence. FURTHER INFO WHAT IS ECSTATIC DANCE? Ecstatic Dance is free-form dance. It’s a movement meditation which brings together awareness of mind, body, heart and soul through dance, movement and expression. Ecstatic Dance is a safe, held and sacred space for you to dance, release, express and connect with yourself and others. It can be fun, deep, uplifting, liberating and so much more. It takes place over a 2 hour live DJ set and ends with a relaxing sound bath. ECSTATIC DANCE GUIDELINES Ecstatic Dance has been created as a safe and contained space for dance, movement and expression. We kindly ask all participants to respect these guidelines: - the dance floor is a non-verbal space - the dance floor is a phone free space - no unauthorised photos - this is a drug and alcohol free event - the dance floor is a place of respect and safety. Maintain care/awareness for the space and those around you. Ecstatic Dance is contact-friendly but keep in mind that we all have different levels of comfort when it comes to being approached and touched. - Ecstatic Dance is a barefoot practice. If you need to wear shoes due to health reasons, indoor dance shoes are allowed WHAT TO BRING - water bottle - loose-fitting clothes that let you move your body and free yourself - a blanket / yoga mat to lay down on for the sound bath VENUE This event is taking place at the 'School Dance Studio' at the Brunel Fitness Centre (located at Bristol Brunel Academy). At the reception of the Fitness Centre ask for directions to the Dance Studio. There is free parking on site.
