Let's welcome her with open arms for her debut in the UK. A dancer all her life and a DJ for 9 years, Bernice is now an internationally touring DJ at Ecstatic Dances in Amsterdam, Breda, Nelson, Big Sur, Bellingham, and Oakland as well as Esalen Institute, Womaginarium and Gathering of the Tribes, among others. Bernice is a graduate of the Tamalpa Institute of San Francisco, where she studied dance as a therapeutic tool. She is a certified Soul Motion facilitator and has held a Dance Church in her hometown of Nelson (Canada) since 2010. mixcloud.com/berniceraabis / ecstaticdance.com SOUND BATH w/ BRISTOL SPIRITUAL COLLECTIVE We're super excited to have Tom, Lena and Emmy from Bristol Spiritual Collective offering a beautiful sound bath to ground and land after the Ecstatic Dance. There'll be vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options available. Drinks will be available before we start (10:30 - 11:00). Lunch, drinks and snacks will be available afterwards (13:30 - 14:30). Lunch options: - homemade soup (VG GF) & bread (WF option) - seasonal salad plate (VG GF) - jacket potatoes (V / VG / GF options) - freshly made sandwiches FURTHER INFO WHAT IS ECSTATIC DANCE? Ecstatic Dance is free-form dance. It’s a movement meditation which brings together awareness of mind, body, heart and soul through dance, movement and expression. Ecstatic Dance is a safe, held and sacred space for you to dance, move, release, express, and connect with yourself and others. It can be fun, deep, uplifting, ecstatic, liberating and so much more. It takes place over a 2 hour live DJ set and ends with a relaxing sound bath. ECSTATIC DANCE GUIDELINES Ecstatic Dance has been created as a safe, contained and sacred space for dance, movement and expression. We kindly ask all participants to respect these guidelines: - the dance floor is a non-verbal space - the dance floor is a phone free space - this is a drug and alcohol free event - the dance floor is a place of respect and safety. Maintain care/awareness for the space and those around you. Ecstatic Dance is contact-friendly but keep in mind that we all have different levels of comfort when it comes to being approached and touched. - Ecstatic Dance is a barefoot practice. If you need to wear shoes due to health reasons, dance-specific shoes are allowed, but only shoes that have not been worn outside WHAT TO BRING - loose-fitting clothes that let you move your body and free yourself - water and a water bottle - a blanket / yoga mat to lay down on for the sound bath - an open mind and open heart BABIES & CHILDREN We are welcoming little ones with their parents to this event. The outdoor play area and cafe can be used as places of play and retreat for parents and little ones during the Ecstatic Dance. Please note, this is a workshop type event aimed at adults - it will be busy and the music will be loud (in the dance space) so please bring ear protection for your little ones. SOUND SYSTEM by D&B AUDIOTECHNIK The highest quality d&b audiotechnik sound system is provided by Amber Audio (Bristol). The tops (speakers) will be positioned above head height to avoid being too loud or damaging but please bring your own ear plugs if you feel need them. LOCATION & PARKING This event is taking place at The Southville Centre, a beautiful community hub, located just South of the river in Bristol. Free on-street parking (Sundays only) can be found throughout the local neighbourhood of Southville. Please check local signs wherever you park as some streets may require payment for parking.
