Ecstatic Dance Evolution™ is a unique Ecstatic Dance practice created by Houston native Sydney Samadhi aka SunShine Samadhi. Based on what is natural to the human body, inspired by the seven major chakras and the 9 Energetic Functions, the Dance provides open space for attendees to explore freedom of self-expression within an accepting community. He has a calling for connection and self-realization. Meditation, movement and healing are the foundation of his practice. Daya follows a pathway of surrender and ecstasy. Creating a safe and sacred space to explore movement and body awareness is part of this process. Daya facilitates workshops on intimacy, dance and divine nature of men and women in Belgium and abroad. Others appreciate Daya for his sparkling energy, playfulness and effortless presence in love. THE LEGACY: Ecstatic Dance as we know it today has emerged from the somatic teachings and practices of the late Gabrielle Roth’s 5 Rhythms and Sweat Your Prayers. She re-discovered that the body contains deep wisdom, memories, and emotions, and found five basic rhythms in music that correlate to five basic movements of the human body. Her work combines the wisdom of the body with the power of music to facilitate self-discovery and healing. Since her findings at the Esalen Institute in the late ’70s, a broad spectrum of transformational movement modalities have blossomed into being to form our current spectrum of practices and events called Conscious Dance. She popularized the ancient phrase Ecstatic Dance previously used primarily by eastern spiritual traditions. Ecstatic Dance Evolution has drawn inspiration from a broad range of practices -including physical, mental, energetic, emotional, and spiritual modalities- since its 2003 inception. Each dance brings these tools together in a non-verbal and non-didactic environment for the exploration of individual freedom, self-discovery, and group unity. Our sharing programs are designed to function perpetually, even if current members need to move on. This will give all of us many places to dance even if we ever desire to retire! Facilitators have opportunities to stay local or travel and facilitate in other EDEN locations. Hosts can open single or multiple locations, offer occasional dance events without the risk of becoming burnt out from bending over backwards taking on all of the work themselves! We offer an evolutionary human experience that helps people get to know themselves in ways beyond what has been possible - and provides life-changing meaningful uplifting experiences in a mere 2 hours time. :) OUR MUSIC DESIGN : Our Ecstatic Dance music sets are pre-curated as theme-based musical journeys and integrate many systems we have refined since 2003 - to move human bodies into the space of elevation, transformation, connection, healing, growth, bliss and contribution. EDEN music structure is inspired by the Vedic Chakra/Rasa systems and incorporates 5 Rhythms, 5 Elements of Nature, 5 Bodies of the Tao, Archetypes, Energetic Functions, Conscious Dance philosophies, principles of physical exercise, principles of sacred space, and heart-filled spiritual grace. This alchemical combination is designed for dynamic individual and group transformation which also invites elevated frequencies of individual and group consciousness. EDEn music set design has a consistent two wave peak structure and uses a defined yet flexible outline (called the ‘Samadhi Style’ Chakra Smart Music Rating System) that avails a high level of creativity for theme selection, energy, flow, and song choices in the musical arrangements!!! ♥ Each musical journey is formed around a universal theme or vibe created by the DJ/Music Curator for the EDEn Facilitators to interpret. OUR MUSIC METHOD: Imagine a music flow designed to help dancers gently fall into their own embodied experience and keep them out of their heads. In this way, music mixes become works of art, pre-designed with seamless crossfades and transitions to support our dancers’ deepest possible immersion. Using a consistent music structure provides a solid foundation for dancers to trust in, and creates a sense of safety that allows dancers to go deep at each event. Crafting these specifically designed musical journeys to incorporate a wide variety of musical genres, tempos, and rhythms can help clean, clear, and activate the fullest body mind and spirit connection and continually entice dancers to drop deeper and deeper into their expression throughout the dance. Using a consistent structure and wide variety of genres can entice most of the people most of the time - for an ecstatically entrained and unified group experience.
