Slow down to connect deeper, to be intentional with movement, and to explore an area of the spectrum of emotions facilitated by transient states. Think of this as moving meditation. If you have the tendency to want to move fast, this might be a challenge to slow down. If you enjoy going slow, this is an opportunity to indulge in sensuality, connect to your inner-self, connect with others, and connect to spirit in a dream-like state. This time we will be diving deep, exploring the richness and saturating power of darkness. Balance is important so we will navigate between the light and the dark. Please join me for the Contact Improvisation Flow Dance workshop before hand (All levels welcome - especially beginners). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Pre-Dance Workshop ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Title: Contact Improv Flow - PART 2 Facilitator: Dustin Wong Description: --Foundational Connection Skills and Concepts (Part 2) MOMENTUM-- This is Part 2 of the my Contact Improv Flow series. Contact improvisational dance is a form of partner dancing that seemingly has little structure, and from the outside looking in it can be challenging to know where to start or how to do it. We will review the 5 fundamental movements from Part 1 and then dive deeper into lead follow concepts. I will introduce some simple weight sharing methods and finally we will explore the concept of momentum and its role in the connection and dance. My intention for this class is to prioritize movement & dancing over talking so please come early to warm up, stretch a bit on your own, and ground into the space. An important briefing on consent will precede the class. It is advised to wear clothing that covers the shoulders and knees and avoid wearing scented perfumes. If you are curious but hesitant to dance with others, there is always the option to dance alone and to feel your way into things where you feel comfortable.
