Ecstatic Dancers, It’s happening! Count on it: Saturday October 19th at the Button Factory, the second Ecstatic Dance of our Fall series, is going to be an outright banger. We’ve booked two true masters of their craft to hold this space for us, and we ain’t into hyperbole (at least not today). ATTILA THE SPUN is a local DJ widely recognized for his deliciously inventive, melodic genre-mashing AND his ruthlessly danceable beats. Follow that with a Sound Healing offered by NATASHA ÁINE–a consistent, powerful, and respected healer long-standing in our community–and you can expect a night that will move your body along with everything that’s ready to move within you. All the details are below. Tell everyone you know. WHAT IS ECSTATIC DANCE? Ecstatic Dance is a freeform, conscious dance practice and sound journey. Created by the community for the community, these are intentional, co-creative containers for exploring embodiment, self- expression, catharsis, and play—all through the transformative medium of movement and music. This is a space to be yourself, discover yourself, become yourself, and support one another in doing the same. INTRODUCING ATTILA THE SPUN Attila The Spun has been moving dance floors for 15 years, formerly as a club DJ in Waterloo. Focusing primarily on house and techno, he seamlessly sprinkles in bits of other genres, so it’s not unusual to hear garage, electro, or jungle woven into his sets. Expect classics, future classics, and obscurities—all curated to keep you dancing. THESE ECSTATIC DANCES ARE: Non-Verbal, Sober Spaces, And we invite you to leave your shoes at the door.
