About this Event
We are blessed and fortunate to be a part of an ever expanding global network of multi-generational families, students, artist, musicians, dancers, yogis, ceremonialist, producers, DJs, festival goers, healers, and transformational leaders. The longer we continue holding Ecstatic Dance in Los Angeles the more amazing experiences we have and the more opportunities to collaborate with brothers & sisters from all over the world who speak the language of music & dance present themselves.
This week we are honored to welcome multi-instrumentalist-Producer/DJ, Rob Weber - from Bali to share some of that Bali Spirit Fest and Ecstatic Dance Ubud magic with us. Plus don’t miss a very special opening workshop on heightened spacial-awareness with Cirque du Soleil performer, John Welsh!! Come join us in the journey of Freeform dance and self expression that really is food for our souls.

➤Jones (Welsh) Talmadge www.joneswelsh.com
is a choreographer, movement director, and arts activist. After obtaining a double degree in theater and dance from the University of Washington in 2000, Jones has claimed an international career in acrobatic performance, high-octane dance, and choreography for story-telling: touring with such companies as Diavolo / Architecture in Motion, Collage Dance Theater, Rosanna Gamson/World Wide. In 2013 Jones became the Associate Artistic Director & Diavolo Institute Director, working to establishing sustainable community outreach programs & choreographing many works that were seen at the Hollywood Bowl, and on America’s Got Talent. Jones is one of three Co-Artistic Directors of “Not Man Apart” - Physical Theatre Ensemble, and has done movement direction and choreography on every major Not Man Apart production. He is excited and honored to move to China this Fall with his amazing wife, Anne-Marie Talmadge, to work on a new Cirque du Soleil creation together in the city of Hangzhou.
“What’s most important to me is that my art brings people together and has social relevance to affect real and substantial change.”
360 Flow Playshop:
(Beginning/Intermediate Skill Levels)
Jones will teach a unique method of movement collaboration
by employing elements of improvisation games, physical sensitivity, and
spatial awareness. Participants are led through a series of
exercises that are gauged to activate an atmosphere of engaged
participation for a freeform dance journey. Through a physical approach, we access courage, confidence, listening, and self-expression, making it fun for groups to work together and build collective awareness. Participants will learn to develop a 360 degree
spatial and body awareness, gain control of the force of gravity, with
elements of body mechanics that can be applied to partner balancing,
dance, and acrobatic skill practice. This workshop will enable participants to use their own body as instruments in
collaboration with a symphony of other dancers, and to realize how movement
and energy can instantly spark creation and inform improvisation.

➤ How it works:
We open with a special warmup yoga or movement class facilitated by a skilled practitioner. The opening class blends seamlessly into the the two hour freeform dance journey facilitated by our guest DJ. At the end of the DJ set we close with a sound bath or group exercise to ground and complete the experience.
