As the festival season winds down to a close, and the Autumnal energies crescendo, we bring the festival vibe home to our local dance floor. Every first and third Sunday we gather to dance, commune, connect and liberate ourselves from the conditions that keep us stuck in our heads, blocked from feeling our hearts, bodies, and spirits truths. We strive to hold a space where all people can come and raise their consciousness through dance. With the mediums of music, movement, and intention we build a community centered in celebration of the good things in life- banging beats, beautiful people- inside and out, play, healthy food, movement, healing touch, sacred space, and silliness. Join us Sunday November 20th for DJ Boogiemeister's first set at Ecstatic Dance LA! Parashakti will lead a Dance of Liberation journey to warm us up for the freeform dance, and give everyone an opportunity to get grounded in a clear intention for their dance. We will also have a special guest chef, and healing arts practitioners to nourish your bodies. Whether you're a conscious dance connoisseur, or new to the experience, you're invited to join us and explore what ecstatic dance is for you. He has been producing music since the year 2000, with over 40+ songs on his discography, 2 full length albums & 3 EPs. Back in 2004 he co-founded Beats Without Borders monthly (global fusion dance parties in Vancouver, BC that just had 10th anniversary!) & band Delhi 2 Dublin (who have gone on to be quite a successful popular band). In November 2014 he launched “Remix The Earth”, an ongoing music, travel & video project spanning the globe. He uses the almighty laptop and plays bass, guitar, synths, melodica, & various percussion. His debut full length album "EthnosonicSUBfunk Theories" is available on iTunes & in rotation online. His latest EP's & releases have been cultivating a new sound immersed in House, specifically Afro-House, Latin-House & Tropical House! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *** Dance of Liberation with Parashakti www.danceofliberation.com/ The Dance of Liberation® is a unique form of movement therapy that heals and frees physical, mental, emotional and spiritual blockages. Utilizing dance, contemporary shamanism, hands on healing, drumming and global music, this powerful and beautiful soul work sheds inhibitions and heightens inner awareness in a safe and carefully monitored group setting. Dancers are blindfolded in the shamanic tradition and step beyond their conscious fears and limitations and allow their innermost creative sides to break free. Dancers tune in to sound and movement to take an inner journey exploring a trancelike state of self-discovery and self-realization. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *** HOW IT WORKS: To begin, a special warm up yoga or movement class is facilitated by skilled practitioners. The opening class blends seamlessly into the the two hour freeform dance journey facilitated by our guest DJ. At the end of the DJ set, we close with some sound healing, or group exercise to ground and complete the experience. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *** WHAT TO EXPECT *Children under 16 dance free! *No unauthorized photo or video allowed. *Complimentary earplugs. *Ecstatic Dance is a barefoot practice.
