Danzatrice da una vita intera, Bernice Raabis si è laureata al Tamalpa Institute di S. Francisco, dove ha studiato danza come strumento terapeutico. Bernice è co-fondatrice di Ecstatic Dance International, è facilitatrice certificata Soul Motion e dal 2010 suona come DJ alla Dance Church / Dance the Medicine nella sua città Nelson (Canada). Ha iniziato la sua carriera come DJ a livello internazionale mixando per le più famose Ecstatic Dance in Stati Uniti, Canada ed Europa. Ecstatic Dance è una pratica di Conscious Dance, ovvero Danza Consapevole: un modo nuovo di vivere la musica, lo spazio, la libera espressione, la condivisione e l'incontro, liberando l'energia, lontano dal caos da discoteca. Si danza insieme per due ore, in modo libero, nel rispetto di sé e degli altri, guidati dalla musica di un dj e con la conduzione iniziale e finale di un facilitatore o ceremony leader. Durante la serata non vengono serviti alcolici, ma acqua e tisane, si danza a piedi nudi o con calze antiscivolo, e si intrattiene il silenzio nella sala. L'intento è condividere uno spazio dove poter esplorare la bellezza del sentire e la vitalità del nostro corpo quando lo lasciamo muovere spontaneamente, permettendo ai pensieri di trasformarsi in azioni, alle emozioni di esprimersi in energia e a noi stessi di essere liberi. E' l'occasione di muoversi e danzare in libertà, meditare e respirare in uno spazio sacro. Pratichiamo l'accettazione, l’assenza di giudizio e di ogni aspettativa rispetto agli altri. Questo ci permette di sentirci liberi di essere noi stessi, mostrare ciò che sentiamo e che siamo naturalmente. Pratichiamo il rispetto per ogni individuo e ogni identità, il rispetto dei confini e dei limiti di ognuno. *Quale musica si danza? Ogni genere musicale, ogni vibrazione che ci connetta con una consapevolezza più ampia di noi stessi: dalla musica elettronica a quella nativa e tribale, dalla dubstep all'hip hop di contenuto fino alla musica classica.. Ogni ritmo che ci permetta di sperimentare l'infinito ventaglio delle possibilità di espressione del nostro meraviglioso Essere! *Linee guida - Silenzio nel dancefloor - Si danza a piedi nudi - No alcol, no sostanze - Spegnere cellulari - No video/foto - Rispetto delle persone presenti - E' possibile danzare con l'altro soltanto avendo il suo permesso, non accordato dalle parole ma da un contatto più sottile e spontaneo, mediato dallo sguardo, dall'atteggiamento, dal rispetto. A lifetime dancer, Bernice graduated from the Tamalpa Institute in S. Francisco, where she studied dance as a therapeutic tool. Ecstatic Dance is Conscious Dance: a new way of experiencing music, space, free expression, sharing and meeting, freeing energy, away from the discoteque chaos. You can dance together for two hours, in a free way, respecting yourself and the others, guided by the music of a DJ and with the initial and final conduct of a facilitator or ceremony leader. During the evening no alcohol is served, but water and teas, dancing barefoot or with socks, and there is silence in the room. The intent is to share a space where we can explore the beauty of feeling and the vitality of our body when we let it move spontaneously, allowing thoughts to become actions, emotions to express themselves in energy and ourselves to be free. It is an opportunity to move and dance in freedom, meditate and breathe in a sacred space. We practice acceptance, absence of judgment and all expectations with respect to others.
