Beginners and intermediates Using material from the Beyond the Basics series, we’ll be stepping into some of the technical skills of Contact Improvisation, incorporating them safely and playfully into dance. Reviewing fundamental techniques with an eye toward how they can support our dances, exploring partner work and spatial direction to cultivate both subtle and highly physical movement abilities. Together, we’ll creatively explore and improvise movement patterns and pathways, flowing through space and levels, from rolls to lifts, to moments of “flying”, developing a stronger, more aware body and deeper connections 🤸‍♂️🌀 +++++++ Tommy Russo (USA/BE) Tommy is a dancer and teacher based in Belgium. He hosts Belgium’s longest-running Contact Improvisation jam space and offers classes and workshops for adults and children across Belgium. With a diverse background in dance, combat sports, and psychology, he’s inspired by a range of practices, including Drama Therapy, Postural Integration, Shintaido (a dance form inspired by Aikido), Savate (French kickboxing), Playfight, Mime, Family Constellations, Alexander Technique, Contemporary Dance, Instant Composition, Acroyoga, and Acrobatics.
