19 years ago, we dreamt of creating a space to experience inner and outer freedom beyond the limits of our routine regular lives. A space to express yourself, supported by community, with deep music to guide you and a sacred container to hold you. A place to be our individual selves, held together by a shared vision, like trees with woven roots. That dream became reality, without one single leader, teacher or guru telling us all how to move. Instead, with our feet on the same ground we create ecstatic dance together every week, each with our inner knowing & embodied presence leading the way. Now we stand together with our 1000th dance just around the corner, next Thursday June 19. Whether you’re new to Ecstatic Dance Toronto (EDT) or a seasoned dancer with us, there has never been a better time to find more freedom in your life through dance. EDT has become a vibrant home for thousands of movers and shakers, visitors and regulars — a place to land, to grow, and to feel a deeper sense of belonging to yourself and to the larger web of life. Our Special Edition 1000th dance features 2 incredible Conscious DJ’s, Aguacate (@andrewavocados) & Auraboros (@auraboros_beats) weaving a wide range of global beats, grooves, and live drumming. Meet DJ Aguacate AGUACATÉ has, with great love and in prayer, been traveling and touring, sharing ecstatic dance medicine and cacao ceremony around his home base on Lake Atitlán in Guatemala, as well as through Amsterdam, Berlin, Hamburg, Belgium, Istanbul, Prague, Tulum, Playa Del Carmen, British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec, as well as conscious festivals and gatherings around the world, among other sweet spaces. His musical, movement and ceremonial offerings feel like a homecoming, wish-making, radical rejoicing, and a deep celebration and recalibration unto all of your beautiful cells. It is an honour for him to seed and weave safe and open spaces for conscious communities around the world to drop deep into themselves, their hearts, and their processes, on behalf of our highest blooming altogether as one family. Musical snakes eating their own tails is what. Launched after years as a recording engineer and touring metalhead, Auraboros (aka Chris Taylor) is amidst an artistic evolution, pivoting from head-banging at Warped Tour to ecstatic dance, regional Burning Man events and Tantra festivals. His sets take you far from where they begin, through wide ranging tempos and vibes to land somewhere different yet familiar, just like his own life’s journey. Add live percussion and the result is a möbius strip of sonic adventuring akin to the proverbial snake eating its own tail.
