Ecstatic Dance w. Yemanjo from Guatemala (Live Performance)

Due to international travel restrictions Symbolico was forced to cancel his U.S. Tour, and by no small miracle, Yemanjo who is on his North American Summer Tour is coming to Salt Lake City to lead a multi-instrumental Live Ecstatic Dance Journey premiering our brand new upgraded sound system! Yemanjo 9:30 pm: Closing Circle Bio: Yemanjo is a project of producer, DJ singer and multi-instrumentalist Ben Harris. Born and raised in the rich cultural mecca of California’s Bay Area, Harris’ work is vitally influenced by the global music styles he grew up loving as well as by his travels through Latin America and elsewhere. When not on the road, Harris is an integral part of a flowering dance scene in his adopted home of Lake Atitlan, Guatemala. Yemanjo’s sound is a unique fusion of downtempo and house beats with traditional ethnic influences from Latin America, Africa and the Middle East. The previous five years have seen Yemanjo touring the globe while releasing prolifically with top labels in the Organic House/Downtempo genre such as Cosmic Awakenings, Cafe de Anatolia, Kybele Records, Jumpsuit Records, Shango Records and many more. In performance, Yemanjo combines singing in three languages (English, Portuguese and Spanish), trumpet, percussion and strings in a dynamic hybrid live/DJ set. In his long and eclectic musical career, Yemanjo has toured internationally with soul singer Allen Stone, electronic producers Nickodemus, Thornato and Shaman’s Dream, The Seattle Rock Orchestra, DJ/producer Srikala and modern devotional band The Hanuman Project, among others. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Ecstatic Dance SLC weaves together world-class DJs, immersive sound journeys, and free-form movement. It's a substance-free, community celebration where you can simply be yourself, and experience rejuvenation and inspiration through connection, dance & music. 🎟 Admission is $20, and pre-purchase is no longer required. Tokens are being accepted! We are increasing the price starting in March so we can continue to bring in talented out of town artists & support our local artists & managers for the amazing work they do to keep this dance going. If cost is a limitation for you, please consider volunteering or we can offer a discounted community rate. Stay afterward to eat and socialize at a donation-based vegetarian dinner provided by the Krishna temple. 🔥 We are excited to have Symbolico leading this Ecstatic Dance Journey! Implement your best consensual practices when it comes to physical distancing. When you arrive, we invite you to take a look at how full the dance floor is and gauge your comfortability with the number of people in the space prior to paying for admission. There is always the option to dance outside the back doors if it begins filling up and you'd prefer the fresh air and more space. No childcare is provided yet. No photography, video, tech (texting, scrolling, etc.) in the dance room. No street shoes on the dance floor. If you don't wish to dance barefoot, dance shoes are allowed. Clearly consensual partner dancing/touch ONLY. While physical distancing mandates have lifted, please be aware and courteous of varying comfortability and readiness on the part of those around you.
