DJ: Evelyn Salinas
Music Vibe:
I’m creating a music vibe for ecstatic dance and Contact Improvisation (C.I.) that incorporates Spanish chants and sounds to deeply enhance the experience—connecting participants to cultural roots and spiritual rhythms. We curate and select music in Spanish, from the highest peaks of the Andes, to the deepest points of the Amazon, to the icy echoes of Antarctica.
Theme: Water, echo, mirrors, and voices.
This music set will take you on a journey—within yourself and to the most remote corners of jungles, oceans, and mountains. These ecosystems have shaped who I am today. These infinite environments teach us to embrace long silences, focus on survival routines, and care for one another as we roam vast landscapes in stillness, observing.
Shhh... Always track in silence. I don’t want to miss the sound of an avalanche—or the owls and bats, the birds of the night.
I am now about to immerse myself in a new journey: training a new voice.
As we flow through this free-form dance and C.I. practice, I hope to witness your authentic expression as you move with the community.
May this set offer you both meditation and catharsis. Many of these songs I’ve been listening to for years. The entire set is in Spanish—through lyrics or instrumentation.
Bio:
Evelyn moved to Seattle from Patagonia in 2010. That same year, she began attending Tango lessons and yoga practice at OmCulture.
After a life-changing accident, she had the opportunity to spend a summer in Seattle and attend a famous May festival, where she witnessed a “cool, fun group of people improvising dance—and she joined in right away.” She returned to hOmCulture to relearn how to move her body. The ecstatic dance classes and practices became the start of a new journey—one that still continues.
Evelyn has been a part of the hOm community for over a decade and today she wants to honor the building, the people, and the land where we’ve been gathering for many moons.
When Evelyn isn’t preparing adventure trips for her clients, she is recharging at home and dreaming of what new possibilities life may offer.

Pre-Dance Workshop

Title: Shuffling for Beginners
Facilitator: Danielle Connor
Description: This beginner shuffle workshop will introduce basic shuffling moves, such as the Running Man, Charleston and T-step - just in time for festival season! This class is catered to those with no shuffling experience and eager to add some footwork to their repertoire.
Best performed to high tempo music, such as house, trance and techno, shuffling is an energetic footwork style that helps dancers break out of the ever-comfortable side step and into more a coordinated rhythm.
Origins: Shuffling was introduced to the electronic dance music scene in the 1980s by our southern neighbors in Melbourne, Australia. It was later made popular in the states by LMFAO’s hit Party Rock Anthem. Today it can be found all over the world as well as across TikTok and Instagram.
***Socks highly recommended. Bare feet may blister***
