About this Event

Please join us in the Ecstatic Forest for a Gratitude Dance and Potluck dedicated to First Nations people in need. Every single dollar that comes in will be sent to Covid relief for Native people in Rapid City, South Dakota. “We are the Mni Luzahan Tiospaye coming together to help solve problems and relieve some suffering for people in Rapid City. We are collecting funds to provide hot homemade meals to families and individuals enduring COVID-19 in Rapid City. Many families must separate and isolate as well, so we are helping people stuck at home. We are providing aid packages with traditional medicines, cleaning supplies and PPE to families and communities in Rapid City as well. Please help us.” https://paypal.me/pools/campaign/113821688522976251 Also on venmo: natalie-means-5 We are encouraging you to make at least a $25 donation (or as close to that as you can afford). If you are far away or unable to attend and would like to contribute anyway, please send any amount. Let us know how much $ or what supplies you sent @ [email protected] so that we can keep track of what we are collectively donating as a community! RSVP for the dance is requested. We will also be happy to have people walk in and donate cash for us to send at the end of the day. About the Dance: The Ecstatic Forest welcomes you and your children to explore this non-judgemental space where you are encouraged to move however feels good to you! Just remember there are roots and rocks all around so keep your awareness on your surroundings. If the weather calls for it, we will have a big fire to keep us warm! We will open with a guided warm-up by Jackie Ryan. Music curated by Amy Dubenetsky! Sarah Sage will set up a creative expression easel with a canvas and paints for playful musings. Andrew Prue brings his incredible drumming talent, instruments to share, and a beautiful sound meditation at the end. No prior dance experience is necessary; Come as you are! Meet in front of the Stone Barn at 12:45pm and go for a short hike up a gravel road to a very special opening in the forest. There is PLENTY of space to social distance and I've never seen poison ivy in this area. Please do your best to arrive by 12:45pm so we can have our walk and opening circle all together. If you are late, park in the lot by the barn, and walk up the gravel road. Even though you’re on foot, follow the “Cars ->” sign and then follow the sound. There will be a map posted in the discussion that will make this an easy journey. A Potluck will follow the Dance! Please bring a dish to share and a serving utensil for it. We will provide hand sanitizer and a handwashing station as well as some extra plates and utensils. Please bring your own mess kit to avoid wasting plastic utensils, etc. Mask required while serving food. We need 2 volunteers to come early to help set up at 11:30AM and 2 volunteers to stay late to break down all the sound and art equipment. Please contact Jackie Ryan via messenger or @ [email protected] to sign up to volunteer. ::What to Bring:: *Layered clothing *Hiking shoes *A full water bottle (we will have a water refill station) *Flashlight (it may be dark on the way down) This is a sober and family friendly event. Please share this invitation with anyone you think might benefit from this experience or who would delight in donating to our fundraiser. We are so grateful to see this community growing and thriving and being in service. We look forward to dancing with you!
