Ecstatic Sunday with Yemanjo

Ecstatic Dance is a form of dance in which the dancers abandon themselves to the rhythm and move freely as the music takes them, leading to trance and a feeling of ecstasy. Dancers are described as feel connected to others, and to their own emotions. The dance serves as a form of meditation, helping people to attain serenity. The Center SF is excited to be hosting Ecstatic Wednesdays in our yoga studio and outdoor patio. Slide and roll around on the floor of our bamboo room or bask in rays of sunshine outside as we aim to create a safe, inviting container where you are able to let go and groove. We are calling community back in and around this magical space with rotating Dj's from around the world. Yemanjo is a Bay Area-born musician, producer and DJ making global electronic music inspired by traditional sounds from Latin America, Africa and the Middle East. He currently resides in Lake Atitlan, Guatemala where he is an integral part of a flowering conscious dance scene, but he is well known on the ecstatic dance circuit on the West and East coasts as well as Europe. His new album "Fata Morgana" (Jumpsuit Records) is a kaleiodoscopic journey of Afro-Latin and Middle-Eastern traditions meeting downtempo and organic house beats, and features a host of guest musicians and singers.
