“Yuko says: “This week I will feature Alberto Marino, to mark his passing on 21 June 1989. For tango dancers, he is mostly known as one of the fabulous singers who sang with Troilo in the 1940s. I love Troilo, but I tend to play more instrumentals and the ones with Francisco Fiorentino, as they are more rhythmically driving, and sort of a safe option in a short milonga where you look after the energy of the floor. Marino's repertoire is more melodic and emotionally dense than the Fiorentino ones. So I often don't get to play it in a 3 hrs milonga. (Having said that I did play Marino last week, somehow the flow of the night took me there, so you never know how things flow.) Also, I am very much looking forward to welcoming our new tango friends to El Boliche tomorrow.
