About this Event

Expand your embrace possibilities for fluent communication in the dance, comfort for both dance partners to move together, freedom to dance in open or close embrace, and ability to dance in small/crowded spaces. Sunday June 15th 17:00-18:30 Special Workshop "Embrace Expansion" After the workshop, join the open práctica at 18:30. Haydngasse 1, 1060 Wien You can attend with or without a dance partner and dance the role(s) of your choice. Save your spot via email [email protected] or join spontaneously. Private lessons can be booked via email. *** I'm very happy to welcome Irina Jabsa and Guadalupe Santiago to teach a special workshop on expanding the embrace possibilities. Their backgrounds combine powerful approaches to the dance from a deep understanding and experience of the body and its possibilities, as an individual and with others on the dance floor. If you know me, you already know how much I insist on the embrace as the core of what we do (or can't do) in Tango Argentino. Be it the struggle to understand each other in your first tango steps, to find space and comfort to dance in close embrace and in small/crowded rooms, or to execute complex figures and techniques... it's all rooted in the embrace. (Yes, believe it or not, stepping on your partner's feet as a beginner or an unsuccessful Sacada later in your Tango path have more to do with the embrace than with memorizing a step with your foot). You're welcome to join with or without a dance partner and to dance the role(s) of your choice. Irina and Guadalupe are also available for private lessons. Contact me if interested. *** Guadalupe Santiago began her tango journey in 2006 in Mar del Plata, Buenos Aires. The following year she discovered Reseale, Flying Low and Contact Improvisation (CI) through the language of Contemporary Dance. Since then, she has researched and created learning spaces, delving deeper into Tango and CI, and explores the fusion of these practices on soil and water. She's also a certified Yoga teacher, massagist, therapeutic companion, and completed a teacher training in Somatic Integration, a method focused on Body Mind Centering©. She's been a TDJ and organizer of milongas for over 10 years in Buenos Aires and Uruguay, as well as in Brazil, Bolivia and Peru. And currently co-organizes La mUTANTe (the first stable MilonJam in Buenos Aires, since 2018) and the Contactango Festival of BsAs. Irina Jabsa Luzcubir is an Argentinian contemporary dance and tango dancer, teacher and director. Graduated in choreographic composition on dance-theater at the National University of Arts in Buenos Aires. She co-organized the Cambalache Festival, a tango scene festival where tango, dance and theater merge, as well as the first Contactango Festival and La mUTANTe in Buenos Aires with Guadalupe Santiago.
