Emergent Architectures

Electric Fish and The Movement Party presents 3 days of collaborative work with Brandin Steffensen, Zena Bibler and Katie Schetlick. February 20-22 Together we will build, practice, and deconstruct systems of improvisation, working toward a multilayered performance score based on our research of living in a space of questions. We will reference existing structures such as contact improvisation, the Underscore, Contemplative Dance Practice, Pentamodal duets, and site-specific inquiry, in our journey to create anew. With attention to soloing, dueting, and group dancing—sometimes all at once—we will triangulate our disparate interests toward an aesthetic mystery. What can happen in a three-day period? We will discover the possibilities in Emergent Architectures. This workshop will result in an informal public showing of our findings (a performance!) on Sunday afternoon. SCHEDULE Fri.
