FIRST:
SPECIAL TANGO DANCE WORKSHOP (from 1:00 - 2:30 PM)
All-level Tango dance class with MAXI COPELLO II and RAQUEL MAKOW! (www.maxiraqueltango.com)
Unravel the secret of Argentine Tango with two of our favorite teachers in the Bay Area…MAXI, from Buenos Aires, is the son of the legendary Carlos Copello. Don’t miss this special opportunity to learn and enjoy this special all-levels tango class…we guarantee in just one hour, you will become a more skilled and musical tango dancer! The theme of the workshop is "Playful Sequences for the Milongueros", and if you have ever seen Maxi and Raquel dance, you are in for a GREAT class.
SECOND:
SPECIAL GUEST BAND (from 2:30 - 6:00 PM)
The ASARNOW-PUIG-JACOBSEN TRIO
Honing their remarkable skills together as the headliners at Sausalito’s Seahorse, Seth Asarnow is one of the world’s great bandoneon players (the bandoneon being the signature sound of Argentine tango) unmatched in his freely improvised technique, squeezing emotions and passion with technical proficiency from his signature instrument. Marcelo Puig, with his gritty guitar playing and earthy voice, brings the counterbalance of authentic Argentina. Add the bass player extraordinaire Sasha Jacobsen, founder of Trio Garufa, and we have magic! There is no better and more danceable tango trio we’ve yet heard!!! This will be Sascha's final performance in the Bay Area before he moves to Argentina for two years the very next day!

THIRD: DON AN, Guest host
The organizer and DJ for his own well-known milonga, San Jose’s Dance Boulevard, Don brings his exquisite knowledge and selection of recorded Argentine Tango music, meticulously edited, both traditional and modern!
FOURTH: Wonderful Argentine Empanadas and Wine
from Berkeley’s own Buenos Aires Cafe and other local bakeries, like Oakland’s The Wooden Table Bakery and Wonder Bakery. Argentine wine (Malbec, Tempranillo and Cabernet) provided by Orquesta Z.
FINALLY: Please come and experience the sweetest “milonga” in the Bay Area, with excellent, friendly dancers, great music and food, in a tranquil, safe, sunny setting with beautiful dance floor and outdoor garden patio seating in Berkeley’s lovely Claremont district! We know you have many choices, so we are thankful for so many who chose to support our commitment to spreading the multicultural art of tango into our own multicultural community via our non-profit arts presentation, supporting artists, teachers, musicians, and people like you!
Please note: We follow strict COVID protocols, meaning proof of vaccination, masks requirement indoors, and social distancing when not dancing!
Finally, we wish to give a special thank you to our financial sponsor: Mechanics Bank of Orinda!
