About this Event
No matter what medium you're improvising within, if you're working with other improvisers, there is an element of attunement to fellow improvisers and awareness of the whole group's impact on a (real or theoretical) external observer. This is the awareness of the Ensemble.
Brass tacks real quick:
979 Springdale (if you've never been to ESPA before, read the detailed directions at the bottom)
$15 - $25 sliding scale
Dress for comfortable movement in a dance studio (no jeans basically)
A teensy bit of context:
Jam Jam is a container for people to improvise freely across modalities, with space for song, dance, drama, clowning, and probably more. WITH FREEDOM COMES RESPONSIBILITY, so there is an even higher bar for deep listening to the group.
So! In pursuit of Jam Jam: Ensemble Practice.
We'll work through scores designed to heighten awareness of the group's collective state, explore how to stay present to the whole while remaining specific in one's own movement, and practice the particular quality of attention that ensemble work demands.
Parking and walking directions:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Our studio is on the back (Airport Blvd side) of the building.
Enter the parking lot from Springdale just south of Airport, then drive (slight left) to go back around the building, passing Blackfeather Vintage on your right. As you round the building, there will be trees and an overpass to your left. Keep driving until the parking lot widens out big, and park anywhere.
Look for Ground Floor Theatre and come up the ramp/stairs, then turn right immediately at the top of the ramp. Pass Pilates on your left, and then on the left you'll find Suite 815 on the corner.
