About this Event
Who you are is in your dance. We come together as dancers to excavate ourselves, to reveal and be revealed, to become one, to belong, to play, to be fierce, to be free, to be our authentic selves, to share our stories and create new ones, to be close with each other.
Evoke Fusion Workshops are for dancers of ALL backgrounds, and
Fusion dancers who want to expand their freedom of self-expression and improvisation in partner dancing while
fine-tuning connection, presence, and musicality.
Improvisational explorations from acting are infused with dance to evoke a deep awakening of the senses, opening participants to experience a wider range of human expression and intimacy of
connection through music and the artistry of dance movement.
February 18th is focused on discovering the story of the dance that wants to be told, surrendering to the story, which is evoked from the music, from the dancers as individuals, and in a peak state of creation together. When we build our capacity to become more and more present, and willing to accept what is in the flow, to allow ourselves to be affected, to reveal ourselves more fully, the more we can enter into a zen state that allows us to experience heightened intimacy, creativty and spontaneity in our dancing together. We enter the journey of discovery, not knowing what this song will bring to us, not knowing what our partner will share with us, if we remain open to go on the journey, we tell a story together through the dance. There is always a story being told, an emotional experience happening, and achetypes at play. From joy to sorrow, the range of being human is present to us as dance artists. Extrovert what is inside into the dance. Be authenic, be alive, be free, and most of all create authentic connection and be nourished by dances you share with each other.
Through this focus, we deepen our access musicality, emotional presence & storytelling- while maintaining that peak ability to be in oneness with our partner. Although each workshop builds on the last one, they each stand on their own. We will continue to build on the elements of archetypes in ourselves and the music, as we deepen our emotional connection(aka empathy) and presence with our partners, allowing the music to influence us as we journey creating spontaneous stories with each dance.
* Each Workshop has plenty of time built in for integration with juicy uninterrupted music sets for dancing at different times.
