Join us as we kick off a celebration of inclusion, joy, creativity, and our dedication to being a safer dance space for our LGBTQ community. Evoke Fusion is a fusion partner dance event that brings together the dance communities of NYC across genres by creating an event that ignites freedom, creativity, and connection through the alchemy of fusion partner dancing. Musicality, shared presence, and fine-tuned connections allow dancers to enter into peak experiences through dance. Enter into the magic of fusion partner dance for your new addiction. Evoke Dance Socials are for dancers of ALL backgrounds and levels. Fusion partner dancing was born from dancers of all backgrounds getting together and mixing it up. Dancers from WCS, Blues, Fusion, Tango, Zouk, Kizomba, Bachata, Swing & Lindy, Ballroom, and more will find a wide range of music that evokes reaching for different rhythms and figures. Fusion dance has been referred to as the mixed martial arts of social dance. The basic principles of partner dance will ground you in sparking improvisation. What is the music like? Acoustic, pop, hip hop, blues, afro-beats, kizomba, classical, instrumental, EDM, R&B, swing, jazz, soul, and Latin dance-based rhythms for fusion from tango, zouk, bachata, salsa. Who we are is in our dance. We come together as dancers to belong, to play, to be fierce, to be free, to be our authentic selves. We share our stories through our movement and co-create new ones in dance partnership. Evoke Dance is an inclusive space where dancers respect one another, and by virtue of this attain the level of freedom of expression, spontaneity, connection and creativity in a warm and welcoming community. The rich tapestry of culture, rhythms, and dancers make the language of fusion dancing irreverent, spontaneous, and full of creativity and joy. We encourage you to join if you want to explore other dance forms, level up your technique, or perhaps learn to lead or follow if you are predominantly in one role or the other.
