(for English scroll down) Falling Upwards / Landing Upwards Σεμινάριο Contact Improvisation Κώστας Γεράρδος / Νίκη Στεργίου Μία από τις βασικές αρχές του Contact Improvisation είναι η πτώση. Πόσοι τρόποι υπάρχουν για να πέσουμε; Πως παραδινόμαστε στη βαρύτητα; Πως χρησιμοποιούμε την πτώση για να ανυψωθούμε; Και πως η πτώση μας βοηθά τελικά να “πετάξουμε”; Σε αυτό το σεμινάριο θα έχουμε την ευκαιρία να μελετήσουμε τη βαρύτητα η οποία επηρεάζει την κίνηση στο σώμα μας, την μετακίνησή μας στο χώρο αλλά και τον κινητικό διάλογο που δημιουργούμε με τον παρτενέρ μας. Σε συνδυασμό με τη σπειροειδή κίνηση και τους υπόλοιπους παράγοντες και τις δυνάμεις που ασκούνται στο σώμα μας, θα εξερευνήσουμε πως η πτώση γίνεται προσγείωση και πως μπορούμε ευκολότερα να αλλάζουμε επίπεδα, να γινόμαστε ανάλαφροι και ακολουθώντας το κοινό σημείο επαφής με κάποιο άλλο σώμα να φτάνουμε τελικά στην πτήση. Θα δουλέψουμε σόλο, σε ζευγάρια, τρίο αλλά και μεγαλύτερα γκρουπ παρατηρώντας τις κινητικές μας ικανότητες και τη λειτουργία του σώματός μας μέσω της επαφής. Θα παίξουμε επίσης με κάποια αντικείμενα (sticks) μελετώντας πως επηρεάζουν την κίνησή μας και πως γίνονται το μέσο μετάδοσης κίνησης από ένα σώμα σε ένα άλλο. Βιογραφικό Κώστας Γεράρδος Ο Κώστας Γεράρδος είναι χορευτής, δάσκαλος, χορογράφος και καλλιτεχνικός διευθυντής της VIS MOTRIX DANCE COMPANY, που εδρεύει στη Θεσσαλονίκη/Ελλάδα. Είναι ο δημιουργός και καλλιτεχνικός διευθυντής του ReDance, ενός εκπαιδευτικού προγράμματος σύγχρονου χορού και performance για ηθοποιούς και χορευτές. Ξεκίνησε χορό στην Κρατική Σχολή Ορχηστρικής Τέχνης στην Αθήνα όταν ήταν 11 ετών. Συνέχισε τις σπουδές του στην Επαγγελματική Σχολή Χορού Morianova και αποφοίτησε από την Επαγγελματική Σχολή Χορού Σταυρούπολης, Θεσσαλονίκης. Από το1989 έως το 2004 χόρεψε για το Χοροθέατρο Θεσσαλονίκης (Κρατικό Θέατρο Βορείου Ελλάδος). Το 2001 κέρδισε το 1ο βραβείο στα Εθνικά Βραβεία Χορού για την ερμηνεία του στην χοροθεατρική παράσταση ‘Bluebeard’, σε σκηνοθεσία Κ. Ρήγου. Το 2012 προσκλήθηκε από την «Machinenoisy Dance Company» με έδρα το Βανκούβερ του Καναδά για να χορέψει στην παράσταση «Romantic Old Horses» σε σκηνοθεσία Peter Bingham. Η καριέρα του ως χορευτής συνεχίζεται μέχρι σήμερα. Το 2001 ίδρυσε τη δική του ομάδα, «VIS MOTRIX DANCE COMPANY» με έδρα την Θεσσαλονίκη και είναι ο βασικός χορογράφος των παραστάσεων της (In Dreams, Safety Distance, Pessoas, In Between, Nocturne, Void, Dark Matter, Nosferatu, 22, και άλλα). Έχει παρουσιάσει τις παραστάσεις του στην Ελλάδα και στο εξωτερικό (Μεγάλη Βρετανία, Γερμανία, Ισπανία). Τον Μάιο του 2015, σκηνοθέτησε την παράσταση «ΤΑΝ» για το Χοροθέατρο Θεσσαλονίκης (ΚΘΒΕ). Έχει επίσης εργαστεί ως ηθοποιός στη Θεατρική Εταιρεία «Νέες Μορφές» και ως χορογράφος για το θέατρο και την όπερα και έχει επιδοτηθεί για τη δουλειά του από το Υπουργείο Πολιτισμού. Κατά τη διάρκεια της δουλειάς του ως χορευτής και χορογράφος τα τελευταία 30 χρόνια, ανέπτυξε επίσης μεγάλη διδακτική εμπειρία στον κλασικό και σύγχρονο χορό, τον αυτοσχεδιασμό και το Contact Improvisation, Partnering, Ensemble Improvisation, σύνθεση, χορογραφία και performance σε επαγγελματικές σχολές χορού και δραματικές σχολές. Έχει διδάξει αυτοσχεδιασμό και χορογραφία στο Dance and Performance στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Λίνκολν στην Αγγλία και σεμινάρια σύγχρονου χορού και Contact Improvisation στην Ισπανία, τη Γερμανία, το Ισραήλ και τον Καναδά. Έχει συνεργαστεί με τους Chris Aiken, Angie Houser Kirstie Simpson, Nita Little, Ray Chung, Eckhard Muller, Gregor Weber, Thomas Mettler, Yaniv Mintzer και πολλούς άλλους. Ήταν προσκεκλημένος δάσκαλος στο 21st International Contact Improvisation Festival στο Freiburg - Γερμανία. Βιογραφικό Νίκη Στεργίου Η Νίκη Στεργίου γεννήθηκε και μεγάλωσε στην Αθήνα. Φοίτησε στην Ανωτέρα Σχολή Χορού «Νίκη Κονταξάκη» παρακολουθώντας μαθήματα μπαλέτου και σύγχρονου χορού. Το 2010 γνώρισε το Contact Improvisation από τη Χριστίνα Κλεισιούνη. Παράλληλα μαθήτευσε πάνω σε τεχνικές somatics, authentic movement, release technique και αυτοσχεδιασμό. Παρακολούθησε μια σειρά σεμιναρίων Axis Syllabus με τους Frey Faust, Francesca Pedulla, Antoine Ragot. Έχει πάρει μέρος σε σεμινάρια και μαθήματα Contact Improvisation και instant composition στην Ελλάδα και το εξωτερικό με τους Nancy Stark Smith, Nita Little, Ray Chung, Angela Doniy κ.α. κι έχει συμμετάσχει σε διεθνή φεστιβάλ Contact Improvisation σε Γερμανία, Ουκρανία, Ιταλία, Ισπανία και Ελλάδα. Το 2012 πήρε μέρος στη παραστάση “Mind the walls” (στα πλαίσια του Brighton Fringe Festival, UK) και στην παράσταση Present Bodies in Contact (συνδημιουργία των χορογράφων Χ. Κλεισιούνη και Τ. Νικολοπούλου) και έκτοτε συνεργάστηκε συστηματικά με την ομάδα Εννιάμορφο της Τέτης Νικολοπούλου σε παραστάσεις CI και δομημένου αυτοσχεδιασμού. Από το 2014, ξεκίνησε να συντονίζει μαθήματα και σεμινάρια Contact Improvisation και να οργανώνει jams και σεμινάρια με δασκάλους από το εξωτερικό. Τον Σεπτέμβρη του 2015, συμμετείχε στη διοργάνωση της 1ης Συνάντησης Ελλήνων Δασκάλων του Contact Improvisation. Το καλοκαίρι του 2022, εκπαιδεύτηκε και πήρε πιστοποίηση στη μέθοδο του ContaKids από τον ιδρυτή του, Itay Yatuv, στο Βελιγράδι, Σερβία. Από τον Οκτώβριο του 2022, συνεργάζεται με το Κέντρο Χορού και Παραστατικών Τεχνών Ακροποδητί (Σύρος), παραδίδοντας μαθήματα ContaKids και Contact Improvisation. How many different ways we can find to fall? How do we surrender to gravity? How do we use the fall to get lifted? And how does falling finally help us to "fly"? In this seminar we will have the opportunity to study the gravity which affects the movement in our body, our movement in space and the kinetic dialogue we create with our partner. In combination with the spiral movement and the other factors and forces exerted on our body, we will explore how the fall becomes a landing, how can we change levels more easily, become lighter and by following the common point of contact with another body finally reach the flight. We will work solo, in pairs, trios and larger groups observing our motor skills and the functioning of our body through contact. We will also play with some objects (sticks) studying how they affect our movement and how they become the means of transmission of motion from one body to another. The workshop is open to those with previous experience in contact improvisation even at an early stage. For any further information: +30 6974474602 (Viber, WhatsApp) BIO Kostas Gerardos He started dancing at the State School of Orchestral Art (KSOT) in Athens at the age of 11 and continued his professional studies at the Higher School of Dance in Morianova. At the same time, he danced in the Athens Experimental Ballet of Yannis Metsis, in the Athens Ballet of Rene Kammer and in the contemporarydance groups of Angela Lyra and Haris Mantafounis. He graduated from the HigherProfessional School of Dance of the municipality of Stavroupoli. From 1989 to 2004 he was a member of the Thessaloniki Dance Theater of the Greek Theater of Athens, taking part in all its performances. He collaborated with Dani Rossel, Nicola Gambriel, Anastasia Theofanidou, Dimitra Koronaiu, Haris Mantafounis and Konstantinos Rigos. In 2001 he received the 1st State Dance/Performance Award for the role of Cyanopogon in the performance “Cyanopogon” choreographed by Constantinos Rigos. At the invitation of the MACHINENOiSY dance group based in Vancouver, Canada, he participated as a dancer in the show “Romantic Old Horses” choreographed by Peter Bigham at festivals in Vancouver and Toronto. He collaborated as an actor/choreographer with the theater organization, "NEES MORFES” in works directed by Yiannis Paraskevopoulos, Magdaleni Bekri and Yiannis Rigas. As a choreographer in theatrical performances he collaborated with Yiannis Paraskevopoulos (NEES MORFES, KTHBE, ETHNIKO THEATRO), Simos Kakala, Nikaitis Kontouris (KTHBE), Yannis Rigas (KTHBE), Vassilis Nikolaidis (KTHBE), Tasos Rajzos (KTHBE, DIPETHE KAVALAS), Petro Zivanos (KTHBE), Glykeria Kalaitzi (KTHBE), Evi Gavrielidis (KTHBE), Lefteri Yovanidis (KTHBE), George Karatinakis (KTHBE), Alexandros Euclid (THESSALONIKI OPERA) etc. In May 2001, he founded the Vis Motrix Dance Group, based in Thessaloniki (VIS MOTRIX PERFORMANCE STUDIO) and is the main choreographer of the group (In Dreams, Safety Distances, Pessoa, In Between, Nocturne etc.). Since then, the group has been presenting performances both in Greece and at international festivals abroad (England, Germany, Spain). In May 2015, he choreographed the show "TAN” for the Thessaloniki Dance Theater of the KTHBE. Alongside his choreographic and dance experience, for the last 30 years he has taught classical and contemporary dance, improvisation, Contact Improvisation, Partnering, Ensemble improvisation, composition/choreography and performance in professional and amateur dance schools. She has collaborated with the Higher Professional School of Dance of the Municipality of Thessaloniki, the Municipality of Stavroupoli, the Professional School of Kafantaris, the Professional School of Phillys Manziari, the Professional School of Amalia Strinopoulos and the Dance School of Vicky Sianos in Thessaloniki.He taught improvisation and choreography in the 2nd and 3rd years of the Dance and Performance department at the University of Lincoln in England and seminars in modern dance technique and improvisation in Spain, Germany and Canada. He has collaborated with Chris Aiken, Angie Houser, Kirstie Simpson, Nita Little, Ray Chung, Eckhard Muller, Gregor Weber, Thomas Mettler. His teaching is based on his 30 years of experience and research on contemporary dance and the special way of working he has developed based on natural and organic movement and the natural laws that govern movement (use of gravity, momentum and inertia). The research on the basic principles of human movement through the possibilities of the architectural structure and anatomy of the body combined with the high level of technique has led to the creation of the method on modern dance under the name "FLOW IN MOTION";. He is the initiator of ReDANCE, a re-education program on contemporary dance and performance, “Dance Performance Re-Education Program” BIO Niki Stergiou Niki Stergiou was born and raised in Athens. She studied at the Higher School of Dance “Niki Kontaxaki” attending ballet and contemporary dance classes. In 2010, she meets Contact Improvisation and she starts studying and practicing this dance form that has change her life. At the same time, she also studied somatics, authentic movement, instant composition and improvisation. She attended a series of Axis Syllabus workshops with Frey Faust, Francesca Pedulla, Antoine Ragot and Daniel Bear Davis. She has taken part in Contact Improvisation workshops and courses in Greece and abroad with Nancy Stark Smith, Nita Little, Ray Chung, Angela Doniy, Mirva Makkinen, Benno Voorham, Yaniv Mintzer and others great teachers and has participated in many Contact Improvisation festivals in Germany, Ukraine, Italy, Spain and Greece. In 2012, she took part to the performance “Present bodies in Contact” (co-creation of the choreographers Christina Klissiouni and Teti Nikolopoulou). Since then, she started performing in formal and informal contexts dedicated to Contact Improvisation and Instant Composition and she had a permanent collaboration with the choreographer Teti Nikolopoulou and her dancing group “Enniamorfo”. Since 2014 she started offering classes and workshops of Contact Improvisation and organizing jams and workshops with teachers from abroad. In September 2015 she participated in the 1st Meeting of Greek Teachers of Contact Improvisation. The summer of 2022, she was trained and certified in ContaKids method by the founder, Itay Iatuv, in Belgrade (Serbia). Since October of 2022, she has a collaboration with the Akropoditi Dance & Performing Arts Centre, offening classes of Contact Improvisation and ContaKids.
