Fearlessness Dancing with Baldemar

“It takes greater faith to dance in the dark than to rest in light.” ~ Matshona Dhliwayo ~ Baldemar is our guest virtual Minister of Music this Sunday! He says, “These last few months I have been connecting greatly with nature through outdoor adventures in our Santa Barbara region. Watching how the earth transforms and changes over time calms the part of me that is seeking to find balance in these chaotic times. Through these explorations, I have become more intimate with my discomfort and more welcoming of the teachings I am being presented with. For these reasons, I think the feeling of overcoming fear inspires this set. Locally and globally we are being challenged to be with and to process our fear. My intention is to support us in consciously choosing to flow with fear while seeking to find our fearlessness. We can connect with nature, our senses, music, and dance to more confidently move with Source. Our source runs into our roots, it draws from the earth, grounds, and breathes out into the universe, and is expansive. I am reminded of Rumi in these moments, 'wherever you stand, be the soul of that place. Ecstatic dance is my ultimate source of creative expression. When selecting music I choose songs with notes and melodies that speak to my emotions and feelings. Music helps me to embody my personal identity and gives me a way to relate to others. For me, ecstatic dance is therapy, a space to be fragile and vulnerable, to show up, and to let go. My hope is that our dancers experience this quality of connection in the music I share this Sunday and that you feel supported to move with your fearless source as well.” - Baldemar aka DJ Turtle has been very active as a local ecstatic dance DJ and is dedicated to creating an inclusive community space where everyone is free to move with joy in relation to the music he brings.
