About this Event
With the Feldenkrais Method directing our attention to internal sensations, without judgment, we observe how we move. Specifically, we investigate the function of the pelvis in the organisation of our movement, experimenting with the mobility, the stability and the power of the pelvis. Opened to potentiality, curious about new possibilities, we clarify choices to promote efficiency, freedom and a sense of ease that involve our whole self. The sensory and kinaesthetic awareness achieved with the Feldenkrais will reach a different level when we meet a partner who has experienced the same somatic process. We will find more clarity and sophistication in reading, understanding and communicating in the physical conversation of our Contact dance. We will play with a centre-to-centre connection and practicing how to become stronger in support and lighter in flight. We will follow and search for a sense of ease and freedom which will make our dance safe, enjoyable and exciting.
Simonetta, an Italian dance artist and somatic educator based in London, applies the Feldenkrais Method in dance and movement training, and in performance making. She was one of the few dance practitioners in Italy who began working with CI in the 90’s. Her work is informed by more than 30 years of dancing, teaching and choreographing. She teaches at Trinity Laban and Goldsmiths University and LCDS. She has been a guest teacher in more than ten countries. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
