About this Event

14 - 15 DECEMBER BERLIN WORKSHOP + JAM FLOW DANCE IN WATER & STUDIO Flow is a defining characteristic of a relaxed movement that can be easily perceived in animals. Flow allows to save energy as we are moving, facilitating a continuum between our physical context, the earth and our dance partners. That is why “Flow” will be our guiding biomechanic and emotional concept. Both in water and in studio, we will apply it to a mix of Contact Improvisation, tango, Tai Chi, fusion & Somatics. The intention is to go beyond a defined dance style and towards the enjoyment of movement in itself. The mix of different movement styles practiced both in studio and in water WILL: -allow the experience of flow to get physically impressed in our bodies. -help us develop without fear of injuries: spirals, lifts, rolls or just simple movements related to grounding and walking. -revitalise a rich variety of movements. -Unstuck group of muscles that have been attached together through immobilisation and sedentarism -allow a better dialogue between tension and relaxation -provide an all encompassing environment of allowance and exploration -amplify a sensual trust and playfulness, nourishing the learning process. “Flow movement in water and in studio” forms part of the broader “Ecological Body” project: a fluid crossover between the disciplines of Biomechanics, Ecology and Somatics. It focuses on the relation between our evolutionary design and the effects of living in a predominant sedentary society, and on how to incorporate movement in our everyday life to benefit effectively ourselves, others and the environment.
