F'NBlues! - Friday Evening & Late Night Dances - Nocturne Blues Dance Exchange NYC - Friday July 17th LIVE MUSIC: Get ready for a spectacular weekend of dancing! We’re starting off with a BANG – and that BANG is called the Downtown Shimmy! That’s right; Josh Fialkoff and NYC’s own Shawn Hershey will be kicking off Friday’s festivities with LIVE music that you won’t be able to sit down for. Amazing musicians who are also accomplished blues dancers, they really know how get a room moving. (Find out more about the Downtown Shimmy at bottom of this page.) LOCATION: Our Friday night dance and late night will be at the iconic 92nd Street Y! For over 140 years the 92nd street Y has been a bastion of the arts in NYC. Set uptown, this easy-to-access landmark takes up an entire city block (which, for NYC, is really saying something!). The home of the world famous Harkness Dance Center and Buttenweisser Hall, the 92Y has made dance and the arts accessible to New Yorkers of all walks of life. We are proud to be at a venue where the world's best have trained and showcased groundbreaking works, but still has never forgotten the power of social dance. You can’t help but feel a bit of that magic in your own dances here. COMPETITIONS: Come see some of the best blues dancers around compete! AUDITIONS: Master’s Boot Camp auditions will be taking place between 9:45pm-10:30pm. If you are interested in auditioning, please be at the dance no later than 9:30pm to audition.
