Her classes prioritise presence, connection with our partner and musicality. Sarah fell in love with the forró while living in Milan, and never looked back. She traveled all over Europe and Brazil to study forró with different teachers. Making the most of her background in sports and language education, she began teaching weekly in Brussels in 2014, and in Ghent in 2018. Currently she teaches 5 weekly classes of different levels in addition to weekly themed workshops. Inspired by the creative and technical knowledge gained from her work with Ricardo Ambrózio and other experienced teachers, Sarah has developed a very clear, precise, dynamic and interactive way of teaching. Since 2016, she teaches at workshops and festivals in Belgium, Europe and Brazil. Together with Emilie Gasia, Sarah organizes a Pedagogical and Participatory Meeting twice a year where forró teachers come together to share their experiences and exchange ideas. She is one of the founders of the forró association in Brussels that works to promote forró and in the local community. For four years, Sarah also co-hosted the Ai Que Bom Bruxelles festival with Thiago Lima, and Ricardo and Martina Ambrózio. About the project: Forró Vinyl rings the best of traditional and contemporary forró on a monthly basis. It's a party with live DJ performances, Brazilian social dance and workshops to learn and improve. Forró Vinyl is formed by a pair of DJs, James Lima and Sampa, who are also musical researchers, as well as lovers of the Brazilian culture propagated through the existing songs on Vinyl Records. The sound and material content of the project, is the result of dedicated research carried out for years. With this project our DJs aim to protect, safeguard and promote a wonderful part of Brazilian regional music culture, which is still underground. Forró music, which is original from the early twentieth century, is unique, joyful, engaging, always carrying a message in its melody, a poem in its verses or a simple lament in its protest.
