About this Event

A CELEBRATION OF COMMUNITY & CULTURE AT TEATRO ESPERANZA We are incredibly honored to have been chosen by WAWA WELCOME AMERICA to help create the first Latino culture-themed event in the history of this iconic Philadelphia Independence Day celebration. This FREE EVENT will take place at Esperanza Arts Center in North Philadelphia on Saturday, July 2 from 11 am to 3 pm. The Arts Center provides a huge parking lot. SCHEDULE 11 am to 1 pm: A fun block party environment outside - super family-friendly - involving face painting, live salsa music & dancing, Latin food, and more… 1 pm to 3 pm: Tango & Argentine folklore programming inside the Teatro Esperanza, including: CONCERT OF ARGENTINE MUSIC & DANCE, featuring the Messiez Quartet, the Villarreal-Crom Duo, Andres Amarilla & Meredith Klein, folkloric dancers Viviana Rettori and José Rojas, the Philadelphia Argentine Tango School Performance Group INTRODUCTORY CLASSES in Chacarera (an Argentine folk dance) and Argentine tango SOCIAL DANCING with live music and DJ Kerry Kay (both chacarera and tango) LOCATION Esperanza Art Center and its parking lot 4261 North 5th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19140 This is a FREE EVENT!
