More for the mind to focus on or release us from habitual patterns. Free neck is one of these keys. The topics below fascinate me, and we will focus on areas that the group is interested in: - free neck opens the ARTICULATION of the SPINE, its natural waves and SPIRALS. - Then it opens the BACKSPACE. - free neck allows more easy connection between head and pelvis. From there REVERSED POSITION in the dance are more accessible, and lifts may become more smooth and efficient. - influence of released neck to the STATE OF mind and ATTENTION. Correlation between TONE of neck and tone of Attention. More about Xenia: Step by step, contact improvisation has become my main practice of dance and life since I first encountered it in 2010. Other influences of my practice are Authentic Movement, bodywork, improvisation and meditation. I teach and organize CI workshops and festivals in Russia and abroad. My latest project, called 5days8jams- Festival of Jams, takes place in Moscow in August 2020. For the past 5 years I have been traveling to immerse myself in CI communities around the world. I have been lucky to dance and teach in international festivals in Europe (France, Italy, Romania, Germany, Moldova, Northern Ireland), and Latin America (Argentina, Brazil, Peru). My primary teacher is Angelika Doniy, the first CI teacher of Russia. I have also been grateful to study and collaborate with Sabine Parzer, Chris Aiken, Angie Hauser, Martin Keogh, Andrew Harwood, Danny Lepkoff, Benno Woorham, Scott Wells, Otto Akkanen, Mirva Makinen and other amazing teachers. Most recently, I have completed the 2020 January Workshop with Nancy Stark Smith. Very inspired and nourished by her work, I will share some principles of contact and favorite exercises.
