Free Salsa & Bachata Workshops with Donovan Cochrane

Join nationally-known and respected instructor and performer Donovan Cochrane (Melbourne) this Sunday afternoon for a Salsa and a Bachata workshop provided for free as Jean-Luc's Christmas present to you. These workshops will also serve as a fundraiser for AfroTwist, a Kenyan dance school that aims to empower low-income youth from diverse backgrounds to strengthen self-esteem, self-discipline and a sense of accomplishment through dance and artistic expression. AfroTwist is a run by a friend of Jean-Luc's and JL believes that the organisation does good work. The workshops are free to you, the instruction and studio hire being provided for free by Donovan Cochrane and Dance Culture, respectively. We invite you to consider donating whatever you feel at the workshops and/or at the party at Jade Buddha that evening. Donations may be in the form of cash, reading glasses, stationery, children's books or toys. Please consider bringing a donation for AfroTwist of cash or of one of the above-mentioned items. ** VENUE ** Dance Culture 474 Ipswich Road Annerley Everyone welcome. Air-conditioned. Street parking and parking around the back, accessed via Dudley Street East. ** PRE-REQUISITES ** These workshops are "Open Level", meaning that they will be accessible and useful to all dancers with at least some experience with the basic steps, partner connection, frame and timing. ** WHAT TO BRING / WEAR ** Wear what you would normally wear to dance class. Dress for comfort. Bring a water bottle to keep hydrated and, if you choose, a donation for AfroTwist. ** AFTER THE WORKSHOP ** You are invited to practice what you've learned at Sunday Salsa Seduction's Christmas Party at Jade Buddha. The dress theme is red and white. Bring a small gift if you would like to join in the Secret Santa. There will be shows and lots of surprises. Entry, as always, is free. The free introductory Salsa class commences at 8:30pm.
