About this Event

Molchanovs system freediving Instructor Alexandra Fokina-Gordeeva and Contact Improvisation teacher and freediving instructor Mario Blanco will hold a seven-day course on freediving and contact improvisation in Dahab on October 22-28. DAHAB Is a Bedouin town about in the north of Sharm el-Sheikh in South Sinai, Egypt. Is a freediver’s dream of a town, and known as the mecca of freediving. This is mainly because of its Blue Hole, a 100 m. deep sinkhole of about 100 m. diameter, but also for the overall amazing diving conditions that make it the perfect place for learning freediving: Warm and calm water, great visibility, abundant underwater life, outstanding underwater landscapes and formations. There is a reason why national and world champions come to Dahab to train. Dahab is filled with freedivers from all levels who get to know each other, dive together, have Bedouin dinners in the mountains and party with healthy smoothies instead of beers. INSTRUCTORS MARIO BLANCO (Spain, Argentina) Teacher of Yoga, contact improvisation and contact in water. Zen shiatsu practitioner. Freediving instructor. "I came from yoga, practised and taught it for several years, and so I got used to stability and immobility, which helps to recognize different states of mind and body. Later, studying zen shiatsu, I realized how a soft touch, reflexive listening and careful observation make the mind and body manifest. I came to CI in Argentina, mainly on the basis of the National Institute of Arts (IUNA) and the Laboratory of Contemporary Dance, where I regularly dance and perform. I was very fortunate to study CI in a place where festivals, meetings and events occur all the time. I view CI as a free and beautiful way to approach movement. I also find in CI an amazing way to learn about myself, about others, and to open attention to the huge world around. I see water as an element in which it is necessary to learn everything from scratch. I can hardly rely on my usual perceptions for spatial orientation since they are completely altered. On the other hand, various internal sensations/functions become stronger and more clear. And touch, in the uniformity of water, is an extraordinary event. I believe that dance is an amazing way to explore this water dimension, and at the same time water is an amazing place to explore dance." ALEXANDRA FOKINA-GORDEEVA with a teaching experience of 9 years. Alexandra was lucky enough to work with unique people as Natalia and Alexey Molchanov , Yu Petrik, N. Avseenko, Umberto Pelitari, Sarah Campbell and many others. "In this intensive, I would like to show freediving, not as a sport, but as a dance, interaction with myself alone without a rope and buoys, without a wetsuit - really free. For me, it's about freedom and not a sport! This creativity, this emotion, is the depth of the internal processes accompanying the immersion. Water and breathing are the most valuable. It´s in us since birth! This laboratory of consciousness is an opportunity to study oneself without violence, without selfishness, only to observe the internal changes naturally from the outside. "
