From Semba to Kizomba to UrbanKiz - Workshops with Florian Tep!

Dança Coração is very excited to present a special evening of workshops featuring guest instructor, Florian Tep of France. Learn about the evolution of these dances, starting with Semba, continuing on to Kizomba and ending with Urban Kiz. You will find out about the similarities and differences between these dances, and what makes each special and unique from the perspective of a 8-year veteran and teacher of these dances! Florian has spent a few weeks here in Austin dancing with us and has tailored these workshops to fit the needs of our community specifically!! 🕺 About the Instructor: Florian is a Kizomba, Semba and Urban Kiz instructor from Paris, France who has been dancing since 2012. When Florian moved from Paris to New York City in October 2013, he was one of the pioneers of Urban Kiz in the US (which was called « Kizomba French Style » at that time). Since 2013, he has been teaching and performing all around North America, Europe and Asia. Florian placed 2nd in the first US edition of the international contest Áfricadançar in 2014 with Maren Elizabeth from New York. He was among the finalists at the 2014 International Kizomba Open competition in Madrid, representing France, placed 2nd at Áfricadançar Poland 2015 and reached the 3rd place at the Afro Style 2018 Competition in Malaysia. Schedule: 🌟8pm - 9pm: Semba: Breakdown of the ginga + attitude Breakdown of the proper posture and connection Basics recap Tricks with lifts and/or dips 🌟9pm - 10pm: Kizomba: Teach about the differences between Kizomba and Semba Show the same routine with the Semba attitude and with the Kizomba attitude 🌟10pm - 11pm: Urban Kiz: My vision of Urban Kiz focused on Connection, Lightness and Musicality Exercises to work on lightness and leading with the whole body Routines emphasizing tempo changes with syncopation, slow motion and touch 🌟11pm - Midnight: Social Dancing + Practice!
