Get to Know a Lindy Hopper: July Edition!

"Get to Know a Lindy Hopper" is back with hosts Breakaway's own lovely staff members Ruth Dyer and Steve Yang! WE KNOW. We miss Lindy Hop. You're probably sad. We are too. You miss the weekly dances. And you miss your fellow dancers. We can't dance together but we can still keep the connection going and make new friends! You probably know your favorite Lindy hoppers by name and face. But HOW WELL do you know your Lindy hop friends? Let's take advantage of sheltering at home, and get to know a bunch more Lindy Hoppers in a fun new remote way! We're using a new app called "Ice Breaker". It's a 1-on-1 video chat with another randomly picked dancer for about 6 minutes at a time. You have a "deck of cards" with questions to help prompt you for things to talk about. When we are not in a video session (i.e. "game"), we will all be in a text chat room where we can message everyone. After you match with someone you can send them a private message that will forward on to their email so you can continue the connection! Set up remote dance sessions, practice solo jazz... Whatever! A few things to be aware of: * This is a connection / "getting to know someone new" type experience. *Everyone* is welcome, regardless of what you're looking for. We are not dancing together, this is like that edge-of-the-dancefloor chit-chat we have between dances. It will be FUN. * You will need a working camera and microphone. A computer is ideal for this event! * If you join mid-game, you might be the only person in the chat room until the current game ends * You will need to log in with a google account (this is the only form of authentication they currently support) * You might need to log in to icebreaker.video first, then follow the event link in this invite.
