Join Gordon Webster in Cambridge, MA for a Musicality Workshop! Saturday, May 20, 2017 1:00pm - 4:30pm Central Square YMCA, 820 Mass Ave, Cambridge Advance purchase - $25 per class or $40 for both At-the-door - $30 per class or $50 for both Gordon Webster presents a two part workshop that will take us inside the music, from a bandleader/musician perspective. He'll demonstrate ideas and concepts in his first lecture called The Language of Swing. And follow with a lecture called Exploring the Rhythm Section featuring a live band. Understanding the music will improve your dancing immensely. The music is, after all, the third partner. And dancing to the music a goal for all dancers. Gordon will talk about musical forms and melodic phrasing with regards to the 8-count swing out. He'll talk about the different rhythmic feels. He developed and honed this curriculum for a swing camp in Australia and we're lucky we're able to get him to give us this talk.
