Gothenburg Queer Lindy Festival 2018

Welcome to the second edition of the Gothenburg Queer Lindy Festival - an entire weekend dedicated to the art of swing dancing without set dancing roles. There will be workshops, parties, live bands, DJs, conversations, fika, and most importantly loads of dancing! What is queer lindy? It is swing dancing without regard to the traditional heteronormative dance roles, and with the option to switch roles while dancing. This way of dancing has many names in the lindy community, but we have chosen to use the term queer lindy to connect with other movements like queer tango and queer salsa. But also to expand the LGBTQ+ community within the swing dancing scene and create an opportunity to learn lindy hop for those of us who do not always feel comfortable in the often heteronormative couple dance context. To prebook SINGLE EVENING TICKETS (including taster classes and party): Send a PM with your name and which evening you want to book a ticket for to the festival FB account, you’ll get a confirmation message letting you know if you’ve got a spot. You’ll need to show up at the venue at the latest at 9pm Friday/Saturday to buy your ticket, or we will give someone else the opportunity to buy it. Payment can be made at the door either in cash, or via Swish. The price for individual nights is 220 kronor, and 180 kronor for those who are students/pensioners/unemployed/on sick leave. The festival is arranged by West Coast Jitterbugs in collaboration with Queerlindy Göteborg. Both societies are politically unaffiliated. Any political stance made by the participating bands, teachers etc. would reflect their own opinion only. Everybody is welcome to our festival who wants to dance queer lindy and abides by our code of conduct.
